I l remember when I first started doing music, one of the biggest struggles I faced was getting my music HEARD! The only way for me to get my music heard was to be on the radio or to get my music video played on TV 📺 Unfortunately to get my music played on these two major distribution outlets I would need to be signed to a major record label as they control who’ is going to been seen or heard on these platforms. As the years have gone by, the internet started to come along and it gave me a chance to finally get my music heard! 50% of the music business is from digital channels, including Apple Music, ITunes, Spotify and YouTube. Youtube is the number one streaming service in the world! In today’s music market it doesn’t matter if you are signed to a major record label or if you are an independent artist making tracks in their bedroom and for the first time in history, we all have a shot at becoming successful in the music world. This is due to us all having access to the same tools. Back in the 90s,2pac had to be signed to a major record label for his music to be heard. 2pac’s music videos were constantly played on MTV (TV) back in the day as that was the main place where people would consume and discover music. In today’s world, people now consume and discover music on the internet! Apps like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and Spotify is how people listen to and view music. Look at Kendrick’s control verse that dropped back in 2013. The track never played on TV and it was not really a radio hit as the track was too long and it had no chorus. However it blew up over the internet!! This was all due to Kendrick’s talent and aggressive strategy! The track didn’t even have a video lol 😂 but he had the entire world talking about his verse! That’s the power of the internet when done correctly. That’s just one example of many, inbox me if you want to hear more. We now have the power in our hands it just comes down to how bad you want it! No more excuses it’s time to put the WORK IN!
