😱 Where did summer go? Where has our garden gone? Farmers market came and went; October flew by overnight and November is looking to do the same. 🍂The truth is, we have been a bit disconnected. As a family, all of our time is eaten up by helping friends and family with their agricultural activities and our little garden goes to the wayside - for a minute. 🌱 But! The favor has been returned. Nana cleared our bean beds and trellis; collected the dry seeds like jewels of old. Ray and Fred laid mulch for our paths in the West garden. 😴 There is still much to be done. It's time to apply some compost, plant (late) garlic, sow cover crop, and mulch with leaves. She is tired, but not quite tucked in.
Ahhh loofahs! Somehow I managed to get my loofah gourds going despite their initial challenges. I listened to a presentation about growing and harvesting them at the Mother Earth News Fair and they really appreciated what I learned 👍 I can't wait to give little loofah sponges for the holidays! .
One of the biggest things I want to work on next season is trellising! Among other things, I caged the tomatos way too late and I think a proper trellis system will really change the game. Just wait for next year's epic loofah wall. .
