A fresh coat of paint can really transform a room!!!
Taping off in a room is fairly important when you paint. Please do not skip this step.
Make sure you rub the tape to get good adhesion! I get so mad when paint seeps under the tape, because that means I have to touch it up. I like to act like I do not get paid for double work.
I like to use 3’ wide paper at the floor and tape it to the floor as a barrier against splatter. When I’ve used plastic sheeting, the plastic gets static and sticks to shoes, moves around, and has not done me well.
Be sure to tape off anything you do not want paint on that is adjacent to an area you are painting - baseboards, exposed beams, window trim, hinges, etc.
Be sure to pull tape within 30 mins of the last coat applied. You may need your Stanley knife to cut any stuck areas where the paint has bonded the tape. 🎨
essentially, I’m building a bulkhead to protect an antique piano that my mom is not ready to have a restoration expert evaluate yet. My grandmother sat at that piano as a child and eventually took off the candelabras off because she didn’t like how they looked. 🕯
The ivory has been falling off the keys all my life.
If I have the story right, when my mom and her mom bought the property I grew up on, a fire came through shortly thereafter. They ended up living in a trailer on the property, and moved everything to the property. They had all their belongings outside since the house burned down. Come that September it rained... in Southern California. Everything got wet. That was the early 70’s. That property still doesn’t have much storage lol. 🎹
So, bulkhead being built to hide and keep all the pieces together for now. •
