↠ I always seem to find myself following accounts that are constantly posting photos of enormous valleys or vast mountain ranges in all of these spectacular locations that I’ve only ever dreamed of visiting. And although it’s inspiring to see, it can ironically be a little discouraging at the same time. It makes you feel like a great photo is unattainable just because you don’t have some incredible ledge to stand on the edge of with a view that you’d find in a blockbuster movie.
This week I spent a few days shooting around the town I grew up in, and it was fun because it was a challenge. There are no mountains or deserts or canyons in the suburbs, but there are lots of trees, and a few lakes, and some roads that curve at just the right angle that make it look like they stretch endlessly. Anyway, my point is you can still find a great shot on the street you live on. A small town view is still a view.

↠ This is my lovely travel companion. Her name is Aspen, white like the snow of the Colorado town I’ve never been to. I hope to drive her cross-country one day. My first car’s name was Miles, and I liked that name more because I thought it was clever. Unfortunately, he had a couple miles too many on his dash and that brought his car life to an end. May he rest in pieces in the junkyard🚙
↠ It’s dead season ‘round here☁️
↠ Spot the moon🌙
↠ Drove around for a few hours today and had a little photo shoot close to home. Sometimes the nicest shots are in your backyard. Explore your hometowns, everyone, even if you think you’ve seen it all🍂
↠ Yesterday it snowed on my 21st birthday which made me very happy since winter is my favorite season and we’ve hardly had any snow recently. The strange part was that there was never any snow predicted in the weather for that day. Technology said no, but the sky didn’t listen and gave me my absolute favorite weather anyway. Now I don’t believe in god or miracles or that the universe aligns to please each of our own individual stories, but that was definitely something special and made my day. On an unrelated note, here’s a picture I took in Bryce a while back.

↠ There are some people I love unconditionally. There are some people I miss terribly. There are some people I trust wholeheartedly. There are some people I’ll never understand. There are some people that give me hope. There are some people that inspire me to live a better life. There are some things I wish I had done. There are some parts of me I know I could improve. There are some moments I wish I could relive. There are some dreams I hope to bring to reality. I am very much human. I feel constantly. I care deeply. For everyone. For everything. For myself. For my past, present, and future. All of it. All of it matters. Don’t act like you’re above your emotions and your desires. Let 2019 be the year you speak your mind & come to terms with your vulnerability. I’m trying to make it the year I come to terms with mine. Happy new year everyone. Go live your best life and stuff. It’s a good time out there🌎💙
↠ My friend and I found a lake yesterday. We didn’t stay long cause it was really cold, but taking in the view made for a nice & peaceful 5 minutes. I’m lucky to have seen a lot of pretty places this year, and I already have some wild destinations to look forward to in the year to come. Enjoy your last hours of 2018, kids. It’s been a good trip around the sun.

↠ I’m finally home for the winter. Now I’m just waitin’ on a storm❄️⛄️
↠ I can’t stress enough how important it is to not give up on the things that make you happy in life. You are always going to be your biggest support system. Even if it feels like the entire world is against you, it’s true what they say about there always being light at the end of the tunnel, or just over the mountain, or on the other side of zion canyon lol. Whatever your cheesy little metaphor, stick with it my friends. Those are the things that keep us all going.
↠ The best art is created by those who allow themselves to be vulnerable. Remember that. Be honest in your work. Be real with the world. Speak your mind and allow others to relate to what you feel. Because in the end, that’s all we really have.
↠ Spot the little town down below. Can you imagine living in this valley and having a view like this surrounding you all day everyday? Doesn’t sound too bad to me☁️
