Way back when. Identity for portrait photographer and all-round great guy @timmarkjones _ Tim has given so much of his professional time over the years in helping mates (often us), doing favours (also us), and working for good causes and not-for-profits. He’s such a good guy, who never asks for anything back. He’s very talented, super fun on set, and gets the best out of people. Tim we salute you, you legend .

Throwback to when we worked with @ballanddoggett and @mohawkpaper on the 2015 Mohawk Show. _ The show honours the impact of the graphic design industry and the important role that print design plays in our culture.  _ It is a truth universally acknowledged that you WILL always leave award entries until the last minute. So that's why we created the Life, Awards and Inspiration Reminder Service - to deliver freshly baked reminders to call your mum, get that rash checked and to enter the Mohawk Show. _ The identity focused on the creation of a digital reminder service. During sign-up, users could choose to receive three types of reminders - about the Awards, Being a Good Human and Print Inspiration. These were delivered in a choice of tone (friendly and encouraging or passive agressive) on a daily, weekly or last minute basis. A reminder was plucked from a pool of 1500 carefully written messages, and delivered each morning to mobile or desktop inboxes. Now there really was no excuse not to have entered, and go on to win an award and gracefully accept their prize as an awesome, humble and positive person. _ Web wizardry was by @zannstpierre (and it was amazing) _ Design and writing by @liv__king @bennethwalker @jaslittle @sam_pint

Tasmania’s West Coast is wild, rugged and remote. The harsh and unforgiving land and weather has always forced people to live on its terms. With declining heritage industries, the region needed to overcome the area’s remoteness, lack of profile and a declining population and breathe new life into Tasmania’s remoter region in order to attract business investment, facilitate economic development, drive population growth, and encourage people to investigate beyond the more well-known parts of Tasmania. - Working with the West Coast Council, tourism operators, and the regions 4,000 residents, the project set a new standard for comprehensive community consultation and regional branding in the local government and tourism sector over the course of a 10 month period. The new brand identity embraces the West Coast’s confronting history in a story that distinguishes it from the rest of the country. A whole of region brand was needed to shift perceptions about the area. The Identity took an open and inclusive approach, through an open source brand system that the entire region and community could utilise, to tell their own stories that collectively shape a cohesive identity for the region. - #community #branding #typography #nature #photography #tasmania #tassiestyle #westcoasttas #typeface #westcoasttasmania @westcoasttas

The identity itself has the challenge of communicating the distinctly West Coast offer, whilst understanding that every town has its own view of the world and each are fiercely protective of their own identities. To this end, we created a set of identity elements that allow a multitude of anecdotal, distinctly West Coast messages to be expressed. Coupled with a bespoke typeface, iconography, and a photography library that defies the usual tourism imagery, the region can convey a coherent narrative and regional style, whilst maintaining the individual personality of each town, business or initiative. As an open-source identity system, every aspect is free to use by locals in the region, providing the tools to communicate effectively, where these would normally be cost prohibitive to anyone but large tourism operators to use.

We developed the master typeface, Sidetrack, with typographer Mathieu Réguer @mathieureguer , that references the prolific large scale sign painted typography that appeared throughout the region during the settlement and mining boom. It’s created around a Universal Stencil Plate, a lettering device invented by Joseph A. David in 1876. It features a complex grid that allows its user to trace any letter, numbers or punctuation shape that allowed numerous non-professionals to produce crude but consistent lettering in a very efficient way. This working man’s typeface became the foundation in which we built several iterations of the font, each one capturing an aspect of the region, from the railway tracks that connected the towns and cover the region, through to an Art Deco variant that expresses the character of the beautiful heritage architecture that lives across the towns. - #community #branding #typography #nature #tasmania #tassiestyle #westcoasttas #typeface #westcoasttasmania @westcoasttas

The West Coast Tas identity comprises of a multitude of flexible elements to capture the soul and personality of the region. It also uses the visual anchor of the West Coast logo to connect up the diverse usage and application of these elements. - #community #branding #photography #nature #tasmania #tassiestyle #westcoasttas #westcoasttasmania @westcoasttas

We worked with our long-time pal, collaborator and favourite Australian illustrator, Marco Palmieri, to develop a suite of illustrations and iconography that brings the oddball stories and quirks of the region to life. These play on the past and present history and environment of the region and towns. @marcopalmieri_com > 🙌 - #community #branding #photography #nature #tasmania #tassiestyle #westcoasttas #westcoasttasmania @westcoasttas
