Ryan loves his Hip Thrust X 🙌🏽💪🏽🇺🇸 #Repost @ryanshort_pt ・・・ Here are my top 5 exercises that have helped in my glute development & some of my favourite to coach: Shorty’s top 5 🍑 1️⃣ Squats 2️⃣ Hip thrusts 3️⃣ Sumo deadlifts 4️⃣ Back extensions 5️⃣ Bulgarian split squats I had to edit my original post due to word count so will individually post each exercise instead. The loading vectors of vertical loading (squats, sumos, Bulgarians) & horizontal loading (hippies, back extensions) plays an important part in your glute training & allows recovery while still hitting glutes hard. Typically, vertically loaded exercises cause more muscle damage as there is a greater stretch in the glutes (eg: bottom of the squat, RDL, split squat) whereas the horizontally loaded exercises are more demanding at end range hip extension & not so much at the start of the concentric phase of the movement (eg: hip thrusts, back extensions, cable pull-throughs). Add to this variations of my list, bands, cables, machines, bodyweight & the use of a @the_hip_thruster @bretcontreras1 glute loop & you’ve got yourself a decent glute manual. As a general guide, you certainly can hit your glutes most days, but ensuring you’re not doing every single glute exercise under the sun every single day & have variety in your exercise selection based on loading vectors is a good starting point. @iprfitness hip thruster pad. #ryanshortpt #glutes #anytimefitnessenoggera
