So this year was kind of a dud. The kid in the house is now a teen and has a social life and I had work. So I just dolled myself up, popped my prized bowler hat on, and ate leftover candy next to the snoring husband @underthedoorforge 😝
That being said, can I please take a moment to talk about The Haunting of Hill House? I won't lie, I'm a sucker for hype. So I binged the show with mediocre expectations but was absolutely blown away! I've been a lover of this story since I can remember. I think it was my forray into this kind of slow, sultry horror genre that really is a rarity. Seeing the story rejuvenated while really harnessing the romanticism and the mystery just had me in awe. It was beautifully spooky and perhaps psychologically stunning. As a child of a parent who died by suicide, I saw such a raw earnestness in each character that made me reel with relation and understanding. I just do not have enough praise for this retelling of such an iconic story. I'm not hoping for a second season, though. It's perfect the way it is!
And I don't care, Bowler Hat Man was the best of the best in creepiness! Fight me!
