A female Fire-tailed Sunbird It is found in the northern parts of the Indian subcontinent, primarily in the Himalayas, and also in some adjoining regions in Southeast Asia. The species occurs in Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand and Tibet. Its natural habitats are temperate forests and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. Males reach a length of 15 cm. including their long tail; females are about two-thirds that length. They live in conifer forests at altitudes up to 4,000 meters, descending into the valleys during the cold season. They eat insects, and also nectar. Both parents take part in feeding the young. . . . #wildlifphotography #naturephotography #birdphotography #birding #eye_spy_birds #birdingfriends #jc_wings #birds #sunbird #firetailedsunbird #thebirdingsquad #pocket_birds #birdsofinstagram #himalalayas #nepal #chitwannationalpark #colours #biodiversity #naturalhistory #sanctusryasia #natureinfocus #nif

Orange-headed Thrush The orange-headed thrush is omnivorous, eating a wide range of insects, earthworms and fruit. It nests in trees but does not form flocks. This species is often found in damp areas, near streams or in shady ravines. It occurs between 250–1830 metres (825– 6040 ft) in the Himalayas and up to about 1500 metres (5000 ft) in Malaysia, Thailand and Java. The orange-headed thrush is a shy, secretive bird usually occurring alone or in pairs, but is comparatively more easily seen than many other Zoothera thrushes, and several birds may congregate outside the breeding season at a good food source. It has a swift, silent flight, but when disturbed will often sit motionless until the threat has passed. . . . #wildlifphotography #birding #birdwatching #birdphotography #naturephotography #naturalhistory #biodiversity #ecology #ecosystem #planetearth #orangeheadedthrush #eye_spy_birds #birds_adored #birdsofinstagram #maharashtra #wildindia #indianwildlifeofficial #india #thebirdingsquad #your_best_birds #nikon #konkan #jc_wings

As my expedition to Mt. Ladakhi, Mt. Shitidhar & Friendship Peak is called off due to hostile weather I am wandering around Solang village till normalcy returns to the valley and i could return home. Recent cloudburst and the resultant flash floods have wrecked havoc in the district. From streets to petrol stations to buses; you name it and it has been washed away in the Beas river. As far as the villages are concerned they are not as badly hit as the town. People are busy preparing for oncoming winter. Seen here is a man carrying pile of grass to store in his house which will act as fodder for cattle in the harsh winter when the valley will be under a blanket of snow. . . . #travelphotography #travelgram #landscapeofinstagram #landscape #colours #sunset #himalayas #clouds #solang #himachalpradesh #manali #civilisation #villagelife #agriculture #motog5plus #photography #visualarts #mountains #culture #india #incredibleindia #weather #monsoon #climatechange

Marsh Crocodile The mugger crocodile (Crocodylus palustris = "crocodile of the marsh"), also called the Indian, Indus, Persian, Sindhu, marsh crocodile or simply mugger, is found throughout the Indian subcontinent. It is one of the three crocodilians found in India, the others being the gharial and the saltwater crocodile. It is a medium-sized crocodile that mostly inhabits freshwater lakes, ponds, sluggish rivers, swamps and marshes. Males of the species are said to grow up to 4–5 m (13–16 ft) in length. As with other crocodilians, females are smaller. The mugger crocodile has the broadest snout of any extant crocodile, giving it an alligator-like appearance. It is a more heavily armored species with enlarged scutes around the neck. Adults are dark grey or brown, while hatchlings are tan colored. . . . #wildlifphotography #naturephotography #naturalhistory #wild #crocodile #marshcrocodile #mugger #wildindia #indianwildlifeofficial #sanctuaryasia #river #wildlife #outdoors #travelphotography #wanderlust #reptilesofinstagram #reptiles #instagood #goa #zuari #lacoste

In Europe, this species is often referred to just as the "curlew", and in Scotland known as the "whaup" in Scots. This is the largest wader in its range, at 50–60 cm (20–24 in) in length, with an 89–106 cm (35–42 in) wingspan and a body weight of 410–1,360 g (0.90–3.00 lb). Like other sunbirds, they feed mainly on nectar although they take insects, especially to feed their young. Crested Hawk-eagle in flight The changeable hawk-eagle or crested hawk-eagle(Nisaetus cirrhatus) is a bird of prey species of the family Accipitridae. It breeds in the Indian subcontinent, mainly in India and Sri Lanka, and from the southeast rim of the Himalaya across Southeast Asia to Indonesia and the Philippines. The changeable hawk-eagle is a medium-large raptor at about 60–72 centimetres (24–28 in) in length with a 127–138 centimetres (50–54 in) wingspan, and a weight ranging from 1.2 to 1.9 kg (2.6 to 4.2 lb). Changeable hawk-eagles eat mammals, birds, and reptiles. They keep a sharp lookout perched bolt upright on a bough amongst the canopy foliage of some high tree standing near a forest clearing. There, they wait for junglefowl, pheasants, hares, and other small animals coming out into the open. The bird then swoops down forcefully, strikes, and carries the prey away in its talons. . . . #wildlifphotography #birding #birdwatching #birdphotography #naturephotography #naturalhistory #biodiversity #ecology #ecosystem #planetearth #eagle #hawk #eye_spy_birds #birds_adored #birdsofinstagram #maharashtra #wildindia #indianwildlifeofficial #india #thebirdingsquad #your_best_birds #birdinflight #birdsinaction #birdsofprey #nikon
