Unless you're a professional athlete that exercises for 18+ hours per week, or you a genetically gifted individual using illegal hormones / drugs, you will NOT be able to exercise away all the shitty food you eat. . It's simple math really. . For starters, most people burn WAY less calories than they think they do during a workout. . For frame of reference, a 180 pound individual burns about 600 calories if they jog 6 miles per hour for an hour straight. . Yes, 1 hour of non-stop jogging at a quick pace only burns 600 calories. . Your HIIT workout for 30 minutes, or your gym workout for 1 hour with numerous breaks between exercises? Yeah, they're not even getting close to that. . But what do so many people do if they worked out that day? . "Well I worked out today, I think I've earned a bit of pizza" (oh and the pizza winds up being 900 calories). . The math just doesn't work that way. . If you're trying to lose fat you NEED to eat less calories than you burn per day. . And the easiest way to create that calorie deficit is to REDUCE the number of calories you eat, rather than INCREASE the number of calories you burn. . Think about it this way: which one has a quicker, easier impact on your calorie balance for the day? . 1 - Working out very intensely for an hour, burning maybe 400-600 calories tops. . 2 - NOT eating 3 slices of pizza, that tub of ice cream, or that massive burrito from Chipotle. . The correct answer is option 2. . Option 1 above requires an hour of your time, effort, and planning. Option 2 literally requires zero time, it only requires you to NOT eat something. . Keep in mind I'm not suggesting you starve yourself, but maybe eating a sandwhich and veggies instead of a bunch of pizza would be a wise idea if you want to keep your calorie intake in check. . Or you can say screw it, I'm going to try to outwork my shitty diet. .
