It’s been 17days since we packed up and left Alachua Florida and said goodbye to our very first MiniOs. All photos taken by @mxlocker best money I spent at the track.
It was an adventure that unfortunately would end with @sammatthews33 on the injured list (he’s still recovering) but an adventure nonetheless. Sam raced his very first EVER SX and would holeshot his LCQ, making it to the main and finishing 29th overall in the 250B limited class that had over 50entries!
Next up was MX which Sam was so excited about since he never quiet got the rhythm of SX and was pumped for some MX. He would miss out on both the 250B Limited and 450B Limited by one finishing both his heats in 19th, heading to the LCQ’s for both classes. Each of Sams classes had well over 100entires. He lined up for his 250LCQ and unfortunately went down in the first corner, and then was run over by two more competitors injuring his back muscles and ENDING his 2018 MiniOs.
Racing this prestigious event opened our eyes to the WORLD on a whole new level. NEVER in 12yrs has Sam raced such a high level racing, this is the BIGGEST event for Amateurs in North America. The intensity level alone is something to behold. We are hoping to attend next year and gain a little REDEMPTION looking for top 10 finishes on the MX portion of Gatorback.
We are so proud of our son and the effort put in this season as it seems only fitting to be battered and bruised AGAIN as this seemed to be the theme for Sams first season with the yellow plates. BUT he never stopped striving to be better, he took lessons for every defeat. FRY and I can’t wait to see what he will do in 2019 and the adventures we will ALL go on in the world of MX. #livingthedream#minios2018#gatorback#thorwinterolympics#ktmcanada#ktm250#ktm450#proudofourson#fourstrokes#whatanadventure#ourfamilytime#wouldntchangeathing @motoparkracing @ccrraceteam @flybyumotorsports @hotshotmx @willowcreek58 @deltapowerequipment @spectrumgraphicslistowel @valardconstruction
