A couple weeks ago while out shooting schools of fish I encountered this Loggerhead in shallow water. In over 15 years of shooting in the water it is only the second time I have seen one this close to shore. It usually indicates a sick turtle :(

@moonball_ this is nesting season for Loggerheads on the East Coast. Loggerheads will nest anywhere from Iluka (North NSW) to Mackay (QLD)

I think I saw the same one off Boca a couple weeks ago. We were in 30' of water and thought it was strange considering the time of year.

@behzad_zadhoush send me an email w details!
@mermaid__missy I wish that was the case but this is in Florida and our nesting is in the summer. Hopefully she is just a little lost
@benjhicks yeah I was going to ask where there is water this clear near the coast of aus 😂

The barnacles also indicate sickness

The other day I was swimming at a beach in Florida and a logger head that looked exactly like this swam right next to me and poked its head out of the water but I was assuming it was near shore to lay eggs. this could’ve been the case right?
