mtnaygetsfit Luuuuunchin' at naptime and taking a break from packing. Yes, I'm packing a day early because I'm weird like that and a baby requires so much 🙈 plus, I have to pack so many snacks to stick to my @whole30 round.

Buuuuut I need suggestions for our drive! We're taking an 8+ hour road trip to visit my husband's family for the weekend with a 19 month old and a 7 week old. With my mother in law in the car behind us. Lord. Help. Us. And send suggestions! ♥️

Do you have a tablet? We did a 9 hour trip with my toddler and that helped a lot... I downloaded some movies ahead of time and bought a tablet holder that hooks onto the headrest 🙌🏻🙌🏻

We also leave early in the morning like around 3 am, so that he sleeps most of the way... not sure if this is an option for you guys

I hear you! My little one had just turned 2 years when we did our first trip from Kansas to Arizona - 18+ hours! We did stop overnight midway, but the second day was almost worse because he was OVER being in his car seat! I had so many small toys for him, some new (this really helps) and separated into bags, etc I could just hand back to him. This is also around the time he started loving books. Richard Scarry books are one of his favorites (the older ones are the best!). Snacks help too! My kid loves pretzels, popcorn, apples, carrots, applesauce pouches (if they can do it by them self), cheese slices. I love Epic bars, fruit/veggies, olives, coconut chips, seaweed snacks... sometime if I'm proactive I'll make some kind of granola bar or cookie that is paleo.

Take advantage of Grandma behind you and put your son in the car with her for increments. Bring fun, kid + adult friendly music and/or an entertaining story on CD for Teddy to break up the time in the car. Find a park every 3-5 hours. Spend 15-30 minutes getting out energy and wiggles for your son. He will be tired out (naptine, heck yeah!) And you will be grateful for the fresh air. Also, don't give him sugar 24 before the trip and he will be much more calm.

Sorry for being so opinionated. I have been a nanny for 10+ years and I was a preschool teacher. I have traveled a lot with kids and I have found these tools very useful!!
