This is my first somewhat successful attempt at deep sky photography. I know that with more images and a clear dark sky I would get much better results. This is in a Bortle 4 or 5 sky in Malibu. I had played around on nights in September after shooting the MW, but always got a breeze that would shake the setup. This is from my backyard in October, at 3:30am after Orion moved to darker skies, away from the glow of LA. This setup is about the maximum load for the iOptron Sky Tracker Pro, and it still makes me a bit nervous that one little screw holds it all together.
Out of 20 images I only got 13 usable. Anyone have tips for wind blocks around the tripod?

Nikon D 850, Nikon 500mm/f4, Nikon 1.7 teleconverter.
iOptron Skytracker Pro with extra counterweight.
13 images, ISO3200,f8, 15 seconds
Stacked in Starry Sky Stacker, edited in LR.

Correction-I am using a iOptron Sky Guider Pro. It is mis-labeled by iOptron as a Sky Tracker Pro.

@ejthorson That is a fact with deep sky photos. The better the gear, the better the photo.

I have a pro too and the 1 screw failed me once”my fault”. Nothing like your heart stopping when you make that one adjustment and the camera falls off. And you watch 5k hit the pavement. Lucky it landed on the wireless trigger on top that shattered to break the fall.
