New Windsor Hotel since 1893. Originally the hotel was named the Sixth Street Hotel and was renamed The Windsor in 1925, which is still seen on the ghost sign on the side of the building along with the very important “air cooled” advertisement. A third floor was added in the 1930s and eventually the hotel was named the New Windsor in the 1950s. It is the only remaining hotel from the 19th century still in operation in Phoenix. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. Currently, the hotel serves as low budget/long term accommodations. #sign #signs #neon #neonsigns #neonsign #vintagehotel #vintageneon #vintagesign #vintageneonsign #gas_food_lodging #everything_signage #phxneon #azneon #artdeco #signsunited #signgeeks #ipulledoverforthis #igersphx #gonetolookforamerica

The Butterfield Stage Motel since 1961. The motel was named for the stage coach route which, in the 1800s, ran from St Louis to San Francisco via New Mexico. It took 26 days to travel from St Louis to Los Angeles on this stage coach route. #sign #signs #neon #neonsign #neonsigns #vintageneon #vintagesign #vintagesigns #vintageneonsigns #gas_good_lodging #everything_signage #ipulledoverforthis #nmneon #newmexico #deming #signsunited #signgeeks #savethesigns #gonetolookforamerica

“Animo Sin Fronteras” (spirit without borders) Artist: @mac_arte El Mac based this mural on a man named Melchor Flores, ”who's been fighting to get answers and justice for his son who was picked up by police and then disappeared in Nuevo León in 2009. It is for all those who fight for justice” #mural #murals #urbanart #elpasomurals #muralart #elmac #arteverywhere #elpaso #igerselpaso #texas #gonetookforamerica

Tommy’s Roller Rink I couldn’t find much info on the history of the rink but I found an obituary for a woman who married in 1954 after meeting the love of her life at the roller rink, so I am guessing it opened in the late 1940s or early 1950s. It’s been closed for some time and now a printing company operates in the building. #sign #signs #neon #neonsign #neonsigns #retroneon #vintageneon #vintagesign #vintagesigns #vintageneonsigns #everything_signage #ipulledoverforthis #signsunited #signgeeks #newmexico #lascruces #nmneon #tommysrollerrink #gonetolookforamerica

The Saddle & Spur Tavern sits on the bottom floor of the historic Gadsen Hotel in Douglas. The awesome neon sign is from the 1950s. The saloon has had quite a history, with many famous patrons over the years. Actor Lee Marvin allegedly once got into a bar fight here. Thornton Wilder made the hotel home for a few months after his 1957 Thunderbird broke down on a cross country trip. He decided to stay and began writing his novel “The Eighth Day” and was known to close down the bar with the locals he made friends with. #sign #signs #neon #neonsigns #vintageneon #vintagesigns #vintagesign #vintageneonsigns #retrosign #retrosigns #gas_food_lodging #everything_signage #azneon #douglasaz #arizona #signsunited #signgeeks #ipulledoverforthis #savethesigns #gonetolookforamerica

The La Siesta Plaza sign used to belong to the La Siesta Motel, a 1950’s motor lodge that sat in a line of motels on Route 60 in Wickenberg, offering respite for weary travelers making the trek between Phoenix and California. The motel was demolished around 2001 and replaced by a strip mall. Thankfully, the developers repurposed the fantastic sign from the motel.
