Fall 🍂 is here and so is my lingering fear of darkness, the sads, and bad memories. But with each passing season, I live more and learn more. On an upward spiral which makes me stronger and better. Plus, the cute flannels, jackets, and beanies don’t hurt 😇// Happy Monday, you lovely ones! Be gentle with yourselves. // #menswearselfcare
😴 I’m exhausted. In every sense of the word. I’ve been busy being strong for others, but not for myself. Once 6 PM comes around, it’s AC time (with LOTS of kitty cuddles). // How do YOU take care of yourself? Comment below! // & Wishing you lovely folks a restful and gentle day 💫// #menswearselfcare
Today I am thinking of those who are not out.
Those who are not able to be out, who choose not to be, who do not get the spotlight. Who are out in different contexts. Who are questioning. Who are still looking for the language to come out to themselves and the world.
Those who are not celebrating. Who cannot celebrate.
Those who even on this day are ignored. Bullied. Erased. Silenced. Those we’ve lost. Those who have been literally murdered for being themselves, “out” or not.
It is an incredible privilege to be out.
It is OK if you aren’t out, aren’t yet ready, are unable to (ever) come out. Your “coming out” is your own, and is affected by your home, your chosen and given families, your work, your language. By you.
But know that no matter what:
You are worthy and valid.
Holding on to joy 🌟// If y’all are around tonight, I highly recommend you checking out # This Is Life with @lisalingstagram for her episode on gender fluidity, which I had the honor of seeing in advance at a screening for @the.wing followed by a talkback with Lisa herself! // @part2pictures @cnnorigseries#menswearselfcare
I believe Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. I still believe Anita Hill.
I also need to say this:
To my non-cis women survivors, I see you:
My trans women survivors.
My non-binary survivors.
My trans men survivors.
My cis men survivors.
To all survivors of all genders:
The headlines erase you but I see you.
Happy lil Filipinx boy and their longsilog 🍴 🇵🇭 😋// See you later Seattle! Long musings on this week to come... but time for me to get into a food coma on my 6 hour flight home to my heart: Caitlin, Ube, Boba, NYC. ✈️// #menswearselfcare
🌈 I can’t describe how incredible the folks I’ve met at my first #OESummit have been, such as THE @thechrismosier! Chris let me know that he actually got his name change through the program I currently lead: #TLDEF’s Name Change Project! It all connects. It all comes together. Thank you Chris for coming by our booth and for being an inspiration! (Hope you enjoyed your workout after!) // “Chris Mosier is a trailblazing hall of fame triathlete, All-American Duathlete, and a 5-time member of Team USA. In 2015 he became the first known transgender man to make a men's US National Team, and was the catalyst for change for the International Olympic Committee policy on transgender athletes. In 2016, he was sponsored by Nike and featured in his own Nike commercial which debuted on prime time during the Rio Olympics. Chris was the first trans athlete featured in the ESPN Body Issue.
Chris is known as the go-to source for policy and information on transgender people in sport. In 2013, Chris created the site transathlete.com, a resource for students, athletes, coaches, and administrators to find information about trans inclusion in athletics at various levels of play. He has mentored transgender athletes around the globe, from high school and recreational to the professional levels, and helped teams, leagues, and professional sports leagues create gender-inclusive policies.” // #oneofthem#menswearselfcare
#OESummit Seattle Day 2 down! 🌈 I’ve done a few costume changes in just the last two days, so enjoy these selfies 😅// Everything is a wonderful whirlwind and I am so going to need to journal about this heart opening experience. But for now... I’m running to a drag event that new friends invited me to! (Swipe twice to see my outfit for tonight: my olive suit & floral shirt). Will be insta storying— stay tuned! // #menswearselfcare#express4points#expresslife
🙋🏻♂️ First day of #OESummit 🌈(the annual Out & Equal LGBT Workplace Summit) in Seattle with Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund / #TLDEF! We’re incredibly proud to be here as an @outandequal Community Partner. // For any folks here at @outandequal, come visit us in the Engagement Center at Booth 523! 👋🏽 // I’ll be sharing updates all week on here, my story, and #Twitter 🐦 where I’m live tweeting from the @/TLDEF account (twitter.com/TLDEF) . Definitely missing NYC, but having a great adventure here in Seattle. Let’s do this thing! 🏃🏻 // #menswearselfcare#oesummit2018
I’ve been traveling more and more for work lately. The first thing I do when I get to my hotel room? FaceTime my gal. And now with the addition of our sons, it’s a family affair! (Ube is notably absent, he was asleep). I’m thrilled to be at my first #OESummit (expect a great week of posts and stories!), but my heart is in Brooklyn with @cafe.au.cait and the kittens, always. Thank goodness for FaceTime! // Hope you all are having gentle and rejuvenating Sundays, loved ones. 💫// #menswearselfcare#bobareillydumlao
