#1empty1newbie and another #veganswap
☁️ @glossier Cloud Paint in Dusk (✖️not vegan)
☁️ @jiliandempsey Cheek Tint in Sunny (✔️vegan)
So, a confession: I excitedly bought Cloud Paint back in October when Glossier launched in the UK without making sure it was vegan and alas a few months later I realised it has animal derived carmine and collagen in it 🤦♀️ The worst bit was that as I’d been using Dusk for a good few months I had deeply fallen in love with it!
I’ve mentioned on here before that I’m using up all my non vegan products and swapping them out with a vegan option when they run out. Out of all of the products I’m replacing Cloud Paint was the one I’d been dreading using up - the colour of Dusk is so gorgeous and I’ve been having such a hard time finding a fitting replacement for it.
Enter, @jilliandempsey Cheek Tints, they came into the word at just the right time 🙏 My Cloud Paint was getting dangerously low and the shade Sunny looked like it could hit the spot. It looked like a similar colour to Dusk and all of Jillian Dempsey’s products are vegan - the Cheek Tints are just as adorable to look at as Cloud Paint too!
For anyone in the Uk, you can order Jillian Dempsey’s products from @beautymartofficial (super impressed with their delivery, it came the day after ordering!) My first impressions when the Cheek Tint arrived were that it’s a little smaller than I was picturing in my head and no one prepared me for the smell! The best way I can describe it is ... coconut play-do 😅 Early days but the tint blends out beautifully, has a little bit of glowey sheen (that I always thought Cloud Paint should have had) and the colour is a pretty good match for Dusk - a tad redder but close enough. I can already tell it’s going to be one of those products I look forward to using every morning just like Cloud Paint was. All in all I think this is going to be a very satisfying replacement 😊
My one and only eyeshadow palette
👀 @thebodyshop Down To Earth Glow Palette
👀 @ecotools Daily Defined Eye Kit
I’ve never been much of an eyeshadow wearer for a handful of reasons, but I’m finding myself using this @thebodyshop palette almost everyday now! Admittedly I use it much more like a contour palette for my eyes and because of that my most used shade by far is the taupe colour. I blend it into my crease to add depth and create a subtle 60s look as well as under my eye ‘aeygo sal’ style. If you’ve never heard of or tried aeygo sal I really recommend you give it a google and a go! In a nutshell you contour under your eye to make it look a little puffier, which sounds unflattering I know, but I find it really gives so much extra definition to my face 😼
Back onto the palette - I wouldn’t rush to recommend it for someone who wants to use it more conventionally and create full eye makeup looks. The shadows are pretty powdery and the colour payoff isn’t that great. I personally wouldn’t buy the whole palette again as The Body Shop sell all the colours individually so I’d just repurchase the taupe one I use most. Props to The Body Shop for having so many carmine free shades to choose from though.
Please let me know if you have any more carmine free eyeshadow recommendations. Guttered I missed out on the @ctilburymakeup Instant Eye Palette last year - I didn’t realise it was vegan friendly when it came out!
a @lush wish list collage because I’m becoming such a #lushie in my old age
🎱 FOMO jelly face mask (just wanting to try one of their jelly face masks out of curiosity)
🎱 elated blusher (a little scared of lush makeup but I used to be scared of their skincare too so by that logic I feel I should give some of their makeup another try)
🎱 pan galactic gargle blaster mouthwash tabs (stupid name but I’ve been keeping my eye out for cruelty free mouthwashes and forgot to look in lush!)
🎱 ro’s argan gourmet soap (smells like turkish delight)
🎱 let the good times roll fresh cleanser (super curious about these crumbly cleansers that lush do)
🎱 skin drink moisturiser (already use this, love it, need to buy another)
🎱 full of grace serum bar (this little cutie has portobello mushrooms in it! curiosity: peaked)
🎱 eau roma water toner (like skin drink, I already use and love this, just need a restock as I’m running low)
🎱 9 to 5 cleanser (looks like a super gentle cleanser with a short list of ingredients that my skin might get along with🤞)
🎱 sophisticated eye powder (saw this on @cosmopolitan’s @laucapon and it looked great)
🎱 decisive lipstick (got a feeling these could be very good or very bad...)
🎱 bamboozled lip stain (packaging for this looks messy, impractical and beautiful)
🎱 none of your beeswax lip balm (just for the name really because if you’re vegan you’ll know how big a pain in the ass beeswax is when you’re looking for a lip balm)
🎱 feeling younger skin tint (again saw @laucapon wear and recommend this in her lush makeup review on @cosmopolitan’s site)
🎱 buffy body butter (slightly swung by the name as I’m currently making my way through buffy the vampire slayer for the first time since I watched it as a little kid - it’s still so good! but this product does sound like a really lovely and gentle exfoliator that comes packaging free)
🎱 therapy massage bar (because I love massaging various parts of my face and body whilst I sit watching buffy in the evenings)
🎱 foot soak and fancy free (this one caught my eye because it made me realise I definitely don’t show my feet anywhere near enough love considering the amount they do for me on the daily) ...
