We had the perfect start to Summer today making Christmas decorations and eating sno-cones at the hardware store. The middle part of the day was not so pleasant. You know how sometimes you just have those days when you are counting down the hours til bedtime? Aarahi had to work today which sucked but the money was too good to pass up. We had planned to go to Christmas Carols in the park but I just couldn’t face taking the kids alone, so I sent them to bed. Then I heard Lili sobbing out s heart felt prayer that mummy would feel better and we could go😭 So I got everyone up and we waited for daddy to get home. We only made it for the last 30 mins or so but it was worth it and I am glad I shook off my “poor me” attitude and sucked it up. . . . . #homeschoolkids #intentionalparenting #ldsmom #aussiemum #livingwell #runwildmychild #summerkids #expatkids #kiwikids #homeed #honestmom

I love this kid. We got his appointment for his Endoscopy which is in 2 weeks time. I am nervous but also praying that they find out something because I am not sure where we would go next if we don’t find anything. He has been becoming easily tired and lethargic again which was the precursor to him vomiting up cupfuls of blood previously. He can right for a month or so and put on a lot of weight. Although I thought he was losing weight but I took him to get weighed (5 different scales) and he had put on 4 kg in 4 weeks. That’s kind of crazy when 3-4 year olds put on an average of 2-3kgs per YEAR. He has always been in the 90th percentile but now he is sitting in the 60th. He is so excited to start in his preschool curriculum next year. His books have just begun arriving! I am not sure I am going to be able to hold him off until January! I am all for play based learning and not pushing academics too early but he has been asking every day for months now. He loves doing little worksheets I make up for him. We are going to be using the @thegoodandthebeatiful Pre-k level. I love that it is al planned out for me. We will probably use some @allaboutlearning pre-reading too. Those are my go to curriculums for language arts for all the kids. . . . . . #homeschoolkids #intentionalparenting #ldsmom #homeschoolcurriculum #thegoodandthebeautiful #christianmom #sickkids #homeschoolmom #prekteacher #homepreschool #playbasedlearning #allaboutreading

Today we put up our advent calendar. We are trying really hard to have a more Christ centred Christmas this year. So instead of the normal novelty advent calendars my kids usually get I made this one. Inside each bag it has a chocolate for each kid (and husband because he looked utterly disappointed when there wasn’t one for him), a ornament with a name of Christ on it to put on to the tree and my FAVOURITE part of all are the cards from @christwaslove which have a picture and scripture. I really wanted something like this but I had left it too late to order something, so I was getting ready to give in and try and figure out how to make it myself with my VERY limited abilities in this area. These ones come in PDF format as well as hard copy. PDF copies for all you procrastinators like me! I had it printed of and ready to go in one day. I think they will also be great for Christmas lessons at church. I plan on printing another set to use in Sunday school. Also perfect for studying the New Testament as the pictures and scriptures cover all of Christ’s ministry on earth. You can get 10% off with the code OURABUNDANTLIFE10 at the checkout too! . . . . #christcentered #intentionalparenting #christianmom #ldsmom #homeschoolkids #faithingod #lightheworld #christcenteredchristmas #christianhome #lovegod #christianparenting

We have had an abundance of visitors lately and the stream is not slowing down anytime soon! The kids are excited to have this little guy and his sister come to visit in a week and a half! They aren't too concerned about their aunty and uncle though lol. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It was supposed to be a surprise for my husband but unfortunately Ammon needs to be in hospital for some testing at the same time so I had to divulge the secret. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The best part about having company is all the good food you end up eating! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I hope everyone is having a fabulous Thanksgiving! Did you travel or did everyone come to you? We haven't spend the holidays with our families in 9 years now!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #homeschoolfamily #expatkids #kiwikids #aussiekids #learningathome #kiwimum #aussiemum #homeschoolkids #roadschooling #worldschooling

We are loving being on Summer break. On Tuesday we took a road trip up the #greatoceanroad. If you are ever in Australia this is a much do. It is absolutely beautiful. The last time we were here was almost a year ago. It was 45 degrees (113F) and our aircon in the car broke. We survived by drinking copious amounts of raspberry slushies from every Mc Donalds we passed. Once we got out of the car Lili promptly vomited up hot pink slushy all over the ground by someones car. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This experience was much nicer. We stopped at a chocolate factory for a lesson on how chocolate is made and an amazing chocolate tasting session. $3 well spent there. Then the robbed me with their $9.50 hot chips! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Don't you love how Lili and Carter have matching togs?! When we thought Carter was going to be a girl, Lili picked out lots of outfits for them so they could match. She was devastated when he came out a boy so I promised that I would try and find something for them to match in. She was so excited to open this gift up last Christmas!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Although we have finished up our formal school work for the Summer we are still continuing on with a few things. If you want to read more about homeschooling over Summer head to our blog, the link is in the profile. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #homeschoolmom #homeeducation #homeed #homeschoolkids #roadschooling #worldschooling #ldsmom #unschool #summerschool #homeschoollife #gentleparenting #childledlearning #childeducation #kindergartenteacher #homeschoolhere #runwildmychild

We did it! We officially finished off the school year somewhat limping to the finish line. I am so proud of these two for the effort they have put in this year. Lili can read and she aced K, 1st grade and half of 2nd grade math! She gained confidence and overcame her anxiety which is a big deal for us! She also baked up a storm creating amazingly decorated cakes and cupcakes. Auron kicked 1st grades butt by completing 2nd grade language arts and math. He became an avid reader who can read an entire novel in an afternoon. Auron developed a deep interest in engineering and space which he is excited to spend more time learning about over summer. Homeschooling isn’t for every kid but it is perfect for us. I can’t wait to see what we can achieve next year... but for now we are going to take a well deserved break. . . . . #homeschoolkids #intentionalparenting #ldsmom #christianfamily #thegoodandthebeautiful #homeschoolmom #homeschoolcurriculum

Tonight we went to #booatthezoo it was so much fun! I love making these memories with our little family. As we were walking out I felt quite overwhelmed with gratitude for the life we have. We are so incredibly blessed. We also picked up a new Black Monkey for Ammon. He left his atvthe airport when we flew home in August. He was so excited thinking Black Monkey had found his way to the Zoo to wait for him. So cute. What are your plans for Halloween this year? . . . #intentionalparenting #homeschoolkids #ldsmom #werribeezoo #creatingmemories #melbournemum #aussiemum #homeschoolmomlife #christianfamily

We had Ammon's specialist appointment today. It wasn't terrible news but it still wasn't the greatest. They aren't happy to sign him off yet without doing further testing. He will have an endoscopy in the next few weeks to get a better look at his insides followed by some more follow ups with the specialists. Because you know vomiting up a couple of cups full of blood isn't normal. He has been better than he has been in the past 2-3 months these past two weeks though. He has put on over 2 kgs since this vomiting episode and has stopped napping during the day which he has been doing for the past few months even though he cut out naps almost 2 years ago now. Oh but you want to know how bad my brain was working today and stressed I was about this appointment? I got up to the consulting floor and realised I didn't have the car keys. I couldn't go look for them because we we next to be called in. So 90mins later we headed back to the car. Keys in the ignition and radio still playing.. . . . . . #momlifebelike #dayinthelife #homeschoolmom #ldsmom #christianmom #faithingod #momofboyslife #babybrain #ldsmom #homeschoolkids #gentleparenting #naturalparenting

I have been making more of a conscious effort to go and play with my kids. Sure I take them to the park lots but I usually use that time to take a break. On our last trip to the park I spent a good part of it swinging and going down slides and climbing spider webs. My legs are actually still sore from all that swinging! Can I just say how nice it was! My kids didn’t care that I looked silly because I definitely felt like it trying to fit down that slide. They were so happy to have me playing with them. Auron and I talked about the Space Camp he wants to do at NASA and how he wants to be an Aerospace Engineer. Lili detailed out to me her rather elaborate plans for her birthday this weekend and Ammon just thinks I am the best thing since sliced bread anyways. They are only little for so long I hope they remember that I tried. I may not get it right all the time but I try really really hard. . . . #intentionalparenting #homeschoolkids #ldsmom #christianfamily #faithingod #melbournemum #letthemplay #letthembekids #runwildmychild

We had a loooooong day today. The three big kids and I left home before 8am to drive an hour across the city in pouring rain to Lili’s big Choir rehearsal (they sound incredible). Luckily I got an awesome park. The unfortunate part was that since it was so good we couldn’t leave because someone would take it and I would be forced to parallel park a good 15 min walk away. So we sat in the car for 2 hours. Then we drove another hour to get some lunch then head to the park with friends for a few hours where the kids played in the rain. Another hour drive to the store for groceries until we finally arrived home at 6pm. Auron and Lili made us French toast which was delicious! By 7pm all four kids were in bed and by 7:05pm I was watching Netflix. Also I love this photo I got of Auron and Lili. Auron was so happy to pick her up from rehearsal and held her hand so she didn’t slip in the rain... and break her other arm 😂. . . . #homeschoolkids #intentionalparenting #ldsmom #faithingod #christianfamily #melbournemum #dayinthelife

We are in the process of applying for visa’s to the USA, it is a long arduous process with no guarantee of success since it works on a lottery system (but being and NZ citizen gives us the highest chances) Regardless we are pushing through with a whole lot of faith. I was actually shaking today when I was filling in the forms and pressing submit. This is not something that we had planned for our life but it is something we feel very much led to do so we are jumping off a cliff somewhat. That is kind of the way we roll though. We have been this way our whole marriage and it has served us well. Anyway part of the application was that we needed visa photos to submit. Can I just tell you this was the most painful set of photos I have ever taken. Our kids got passports when they were newborns, then again when they reached five. Newborns and 5 years olds are EASY to take photos of. A three year old and one year old however are little pains in the butts. These are some of the outtakes. After about 40 photos each and a bag of candy we got something that worked. I am just praying that these visa’s are granted so I don’t have to repeat the process next year. . . . . . #expatkids #passportphoto #lifewithkids #ldsmom #christianmom #homeschoolmom #homeschoolkids #lifeisanadventure #seizetheday #faithit #trustgodsplan

I went to the supermarket yesterday and while I was gone Aarahi cut Carter’s hair! I knew he was going to do it. I just thought we would give him a little trim or something! But no, my baby is officially a big kid, with his big kid hair cut. We I came inside he handed me a baggie with Carter’s little curls in. “Here I saved this for you and your mum, seems like something you would both want” lol 😂. When we were cleaning out my Nana’s house after she died we found all our first locks of hair but even more disturbing was that she kept our umbilical cords 🤮. Not just the clamps. They were swiftly disposed off. Do you keep first hair cuts?

We have been extremely MIA the past couple of weeks as we have dealt with several hospital visits. Lili’s fell off her scooter and broke her arm. She’s loving having a cast. Last week Ammon woke up vomiting blood. Not just a little blood but it was like a murder scene had taken place in his room. He didn’t think much of it but I was traumatised. He was admitted to hospital and had test after test but nothing definitive. We were discharged and he was almost back to himself a few days later so we went to the zoo when he went down hill abd started screaming in pain. Hospital again, but no new answers. Currently he is doing fine and is back to normal. We have a meeting with the Gastro specialists in a couple of weeks once all the tests results are in. So it’s been a crazy time here. The perks being there is some really good hospital food around, Aarahi has had plenty of time off work and Lili is over the moon about not doing handwriting! . . . #motherhoodsimplified #motherhoodslens #motherhoodinspired #ldsmom #momstruggles #momstuff #letthembekids #ldsprimary #mormonmom #mytinytribe #motherhoodrocks #nzmum #aussiemum #kidslife #naturalparenting #bigfamilies #homeschoolmom #homeschoollife #familiesareforever #eternalfamily #familiesbelongtogether #mormonmom #iamamormon #raisingboys #raisinggirls #homeeducation #unschooling #worldschooling #motherhoodunited #unpluggedchildhood

Monday again. I always struggle to get going on Monday mornings. It was actually 10am before I left the bedroom today. Thankfully Aarahi is home in the mornings so he takes care of breakfast etc with the kids while I get a break to do whatever I want for a few hours. As soon as I open that bedroom door though it’s free reign. Actually for the last few weeks Auron has come in and woken me up at 6:45 to ask if he can turn the tv on. HIS FATHER IS LITERALLY SITTING ON THE COUCH WITH HIM!!!! I’m like you realise your Dad can answer questions like that?! Apparently Dad makes them empty the dishwasher and eat breakfast first. They are just taking advantage of my being half asleep and agreeing to anything that gets them out of my room. We didn’t actually start school until 3pm today. I have been wanting to try liquid water colours with the kids but I can not find them cheap enough ($25 per colour) So pinterest served me up a great DIY recipe. We spent a lot of our morning painting flowers and butterflies to decorate our Spring window. All the school kids are on Spring break at the moment here so Auron and Lili are trying to get all their work out of the way early so they can go catch up and play with their friends. I am counting down until 1st December when we will officially be done with the school year! Also please tell me I’m not the only one who has kids who think Dad can’t do anything?! . . . . . #motherhoodsimplified #motherhoodslens #motherhoodinspired #ldsmom #momstruggles #momstuff #letthembekids #ldsprimary #mormonmom #mytinytribe #motherhoodrocks #nzmum #aussiemum #kidslife #naturalparenting #bigfamilies #homeschoolmom #homeschoollife #familiesareforever #eternalfamily #familiesbelongtogether #mormonmom #iamamormon #raisingboys #raisinggirls #homeeducation #unschooling #worldschooling #motherhoodunited #unpluggedchildhood

Today was a long day, I am seriously regretting the "let's just watch one episode" which turned into an entire season Netflix binge Aarahi and I started at 11pm last night.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This morning we attended a funeral for one of my best friends sister in law. She was only 31 and had become another victim of that horrible disease cancer. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ All day...actually the past few months really, I have become acutely aware of how fragile life is. No day is ever promised to us so we really need to make the most of what we have right here and now. It was hard to see our friends having to walk through something so immensely difficult and have nothing more to offer than a shoulder to cry on and our unwavering love for them. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ After the funeral we headed to our weekly homeschool co-op where there kids had a class on robotics followed by creating their own recycled robots. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Aarahi had the day off work so he could be at the funeral so while we should be having an early night we are popping the popcorn and settling in for another netflix session...because this is what date night looks like these days! .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #christianhomeschool #naturallearning #learningthroughplay #ldsmom #homeschoolcoop #homeeducation #aussiemum #homeschooldays #unpluggedchildhood
