don’t undervalue the growth you’ve gone through underneath the surface. one time for everyone that made silent moves in 2018. sometimes they may even pass under your own radar - I know that happens to me for sure. 📸 @toby

this is a photo of a fully rejuvenated chase. As someone who travels so much for work, you’d think that I’d somehow get tired of it. Or at the very least I’d have developed subconsciously high expectations of accommodation and comfort... but there’s something so amazingly satisfying to me about throwing yourself out of your routine and comfort zone as harshly as possible. My time in Indonesia did not have lavish hotels or healthy tour catering; it was spent with two backpacks carrying my clothes and camera gear hopping from one place to the next figuring it all out along the way. Eating cheap local meals. From almost falling to my demise while climbing a waterfall, to SCUBA diving for the first time in 10 years, to being BIT BY A MONKEY (I filmed it) - the trip was everything I needed to regain the perspective that had become blurry throughout the course of a rugged 2018. I say all this to say - when things start feeling too easy, go knock yourself off balance every once in a while to regain a stronger footing moving forward. Don’t fall victim to the comfort of stagnation: it’s the greatest recipe for regret.
