@Regrann from @acfairhill - All the soccer experts keep talking about what the US can do to improve soccer here. They’re all confused on how a country with 300 million plus people, with money, can’t compete. In their confusion lies the problem. It’s never been about money with the beautiful game, as this dope spot from @nikefootball shows. These French players weren’t driven to fancy training grounds after school, before piano lessons and dinner. They were born and raised playing on street courts, like the majority of players around the world, outside of housing projects in their neighborhoods, against other players. No coaches, no soccer moms, no trainers, no equipment, no money. Just pride. The US soccer experts reference how much money we can spend on soccer, which hasn’t been a winning equation, ever. The irony of it all is, the nba, the nfl, and the mlb, are all made up of adults who used to be kids that learned the game in the street, with their friends. That’s the variable the US doesn’t want to introduce to soccer, here. Playing in the street. Learning the game through made up rules and fun. Competiting for neighborhood pride first, before spending thousands of dollars on training sessions. Per the clip, Mbappe and Pogba weren’t made in some science lab with unlimited resources. They were made right outside their apartment doors, just below their families’ balconies, amongst the other kids. Maybe the US will never learn this lesson. But at least Nike knows. - #regrann
