So my Fitbit blaze resets the stopwatch after 24 hours apparently. So I went 24 hours, 31 mins and some change on my full day fast. Have to admit, it felt pretty good. I was not nearly as hungry as I thought I would be. Broke it with some delicious stuffed peppers and two fat bombs from Slim Fast. Making my way slowly back into ketosis with a 0.8mml reading last night. A very nice plate it dinner 😍 almond crusted tilapia and some steamed broccoli and cauliflower. I could eat this every week. Also a very good way to end my first 24 hour fasting experience. I’ve fasted a few times before but today I seemed particularly useless. And I’ll tell you all about it but first: What is intermittent fasting? There’s a few different kinds. For example: 5:2- eat normal for 5 days a week and restrict calories 2 days a week 16:8- eat normal for 8 hours a day and fast for the other 16 (women should usually limit fasting to about 14 hours) Alternate-day fasting: limiting calories every other day Weekly 24-hour fast- fasting 1 day a week The last couple of weeks I’ve done the latter, which I have done before. However today it hit me harder than normal. Most likely caused by an active day yesterday and not quite enough rest before and during the fasting period. In hindsight, maybe not the best day to do it but hey, that’s how we learn 🤷‍♀️ normally I’m surprised at how little I feel the hunger but it seemed constantly on my brain today. Why fast? For some people fasting can help you get into Ketosis quicker, stabilize blood sugar, improve brain function, and help with weight loss. What are some cons? Well you can get really freaking hungry for one ☝️ you may experience fatigue, feeling cold, discomfort, and headache. It may cause you to binge eat when not fasting and it can interfere with your social life. All-in-all I really do enjoy my fasting days (usually) for helping me to reset my health goals, reduce some inflammation, and give me perspective on how much I eat when I really don’t need to. Fasting isn’t for everyone, for example people with diabetes or a history of eating disorders, and some types of fasting are harder on men than women. Welp. There it is. Six o'clock in the evening. 6pm. I completed my first #24hourfast 😎 I've been wanting to do this for quite some time, but I've doubted myself. I came close last week with 21 hours. I wasn't hungry, but heavy with self- doubt (food wouldn't be available until much later and I got nervous) This time I knew I had the control. #irunthisbody , after all 😉❤ I only struggled once I hit 5pm. But I was cooking dinner then, too, so that didn't help 🤷‍♀️😋 * * I've been doing an 18-hour daily fast for about 6 months now. I started with 12 hours, for four months before that, and worked my way to 18. Doing this slowly allowed my body time to adjust so when I say that I didn't struggle thru the last 24 hours, I mean it. I wasn't STARVING. I wasn't desperately craving anything. It was just a day. Just a normal ole day. * * In case you were wondering, No, I did not do this to lose weight. I seriously doubt I lost anything after that dinner I just inhaled 🤣 #Fasting increases insulin sensitivity and autophagy; allows the body necessary time away from food digestion in order to fully repair itself. Because of this, fasting heals #autoimmunity. The gut produces stem cells while in a fasted state. The body resets your circadian rhythm while fasting. And to quote Dr. Rhonda Patrick @foundmyfitness "If you're training fasted, you get really robust enhancements in glucose sensitivity and mitochondrial adaptations to using fatty acids" 😊So yeah, I ran today too. Next up will be a 72-hour fast, but I don't think i'm quite ready for that yet. I made the granola from @wholesomeyumblog ! ✨ After buying a bag of grain free granola at $8.50 for only 4 servings (and it disappearing in one sitting between Jonas and myself) I knew I had to find a less expensive alternative. 😂 I made this HUUUUGEEEEE batch for more than half the cost per serving. Google “wholesum yum keto granola” and check out her recipe! Make it your own - I changed up the type of nuts and how many I used. My favorite type of nuts/seeds are macadamias, pecans, and walnuts, and pumpkin & chia seeds! Use what you have, and use what you like! I also used liquid stevia concentrate instead of her suggested sweeteners since that’s the sweetener that works best for my body. Guys. IT’S SO GOOD. My version of the granola has these macros per 28 grams: 160 cals | 16g fat | 3.8g total carbs - 2.5g fiber = 1.3g net carbs | 3.7g protein. 🔥 Essentially, it’s one big delicious fat bomb of a treat! Eat it alone, eat it with almond milk, put it on your ice cream, paint with it, idk! It’s just so good!

I didn’t have test strips for a few weeks and my husband surprised me with some the other day! Day 1 I was negative. Day 2 would be The Friday pic. Just barely trace. Then day 3, ‘yesterday,’ just enough pink to be in small. Then right now!!!🙌🙌🙌 id say that’s super duper small! I even had some cheats last night and was expecting to be knocked out!🤷‍♀️😱👏👏 so I’m way happy! Just happy to see what I’m doing is right! Now to break past 194!!! I just really would like to get down to 189! I’m sick of seeing that dang 9!

Haven't been posting (sorry), but still on that #intermittentfasting game. Just completed my first #24hourfast! I did it on a whim, and it was actually a lot easier than expected. I think I'm going to try and pepper them in here and there moving forward. Back to 16:8 for me! On the low carb front, this weekend I was not on track at all, but getting back to it tomorrow. Last week I managed to stick to below 50 net carb for most of it. Even better? I have a #scalevictory! My weight has been consistently below 170 for 3 days now! I’ve gotten quite a few questions recently about Intermittent Fasting (IF) and why I choose to do it. Current fasting schedule is 18:6 Mon-Fri, 24:3 on Saturday, and 18:3 on Sunday. I read a lot of research before starting and the only thing I learned is that there isn’t much science on IF for women. I have no reason not to try it, so I am. - - - So far, I feel better overall. Gut health has improved. I haven’t had any headaches in quite a while. I haven’t broken any fasts since I started. It’s been easy to adjust to. I started with 16:8 for the first 7 days to acclimate which made 18:6 an easy adjustment. I eat 3 eggs every single week day, drink fresh orange juice and pure cranberry juice. I keep a bottle of honey lime water on me during the fast to maintain brain health and help any hunger pains. I drink more water now than I ever have. Every workout is during fast periods with good energy levels. So far, I don’t have any negative symptoms and the scale took about a week to start dropping and matching how much better I feel. - - - This has become my favorite meal to close out the weekend post 24hr and 18hr fasts with shortened consumption windows. 457 calories, 32g of protein, 29g of fat, 20g of carbs. Ended my first 25 hour fast with my first sashimi experience. I’ve been fasting for 14-16 hours everyday for over a year, but I always could tell that my blood sugar was dropping by the end. This fast was SO different. I just kept going. I had no drop in energy and I felt a sort of euphoria. So weird! ▪️ The sashimi was great too. Yellowtail, crab, tuna, and roe were my favorite. I didn’t expect the yellowtail to have a sweetness to it. I usually only drink one coffee in the day, first thing in the morning, but it always has a tablespoon of some type of flavoured coffee creamer that’s full of sugar or a half shot of Irish cream. Mostly because I don’t think I actually LIKE the taste of coffee! Pretty sure it’s either for that early jolt of caffeine or else because it’s to enjoy that first 20 minutes of the day, just sitting and enjoying the quiet before the chaos begins. # Today I am fasting, so I started with a single cup of black coffee, with 1 Tbsp of heavy whipping cream, no sugar or sweetener of any kind.
