Me & my watermelon Jolly Rancher color scheme switched up some of the moves today, what a great little workout. _____________________ So, my ATL BFF Jess (friends since 1992!) and I committed to a 30-day fitness challenge together, today was our second day. There are a number of reasons I'm doing this, many stem from things that are none of your business 😆 but I did it today and I'm excited for tomorrow's workout. _____________________ 2015-16 were incredibly toxic, I dropped 40+ lbs. in an unhealthy environment; 2017-present, while wonderful fitness-wise because I've taught and worked out regularly, is when I started acknowledged some of my habits, and not just with food, either. Some folks tell me "thicc" looks good on me. 😂🍑 I tend to agree, but I also want to feel stronger, which requires that daily physical, mental, and emotional work. The last time I posted, I wrote that I was on my way to the beach. The beach was fantastic. We only saw one other person for the entire time that we were there, which is pretty unusual. It was kinda cold, but my #skirtsports toasty tights kept me plenty warm. Truthfully, the cold air did nothing good for my cough, but I’m tired of accommodating the relentless hack. I’ve got a doctor’s appointment tomorrow, so maybe I’ll get some medicine. ◽️I brought the FeetUp Trainer to the beach for some inversion poses. Rehan Shah really proved there’s no excuses when it comes to self improvement. He was determined to lose weight and improve his health. 💜💚 This week has been great!! I downloaded a 30 fitness challenge app and so far I've done 4 days! I'm hoping I can keep my motivation up and complete the 30 days! I know it doesn't seem like a long time but my mood can quickly drop and at that point it becomes impossible to do much. Yesterday I attended the first of three Study Skills days to prepare me for university in Jan. It was a rather slow day that didn't really involve a great deal but hopefully I'll get more out of the next 2 sessions! 💚💜

We all know that pain right? Mid workout, your muscles screaming at you, your mind trying to convince you that you’ve done enough - and you are presented with a choice... to give up or to keep going. As soon as we feel pain, we are wired to believe we must stop so we prevent injury or over exertion. In some cases, discomfort may mean we do need to back off... but a lot of the time, with the right form, exercise induced pain is just a sign the muscles are breaking down so they can rebuild leaner, stronger. The health benefits of a big workout are not just physical. Pushing past the pain and through your limitations helps bring mental and emotional strength to your day. Ultimately, you have to want to break outside your comfort zone and keep on pushing your boundaries every time.
