After a 22 hour journey we arrived back in Scotland last night! I worked out on our loooong journey that I had been to France 11 times before this trip, so when we originally talked about a camping trip to France I wasn’t brimming with excitement because I just felt like I’d ‘done’ France. My favourite thing to do is go somewhere I’ve never been! but since I had never explored that area of France before it actually ended up better than anticipated, and with an abundance of beautiful nature (mountains, lakes, flower boxes as far as the eye could see, lavender fields & sunflower fields) aaaand all the most delicious food (croissants every morning, baguettes every afternoon, some of the best burgers with drippy melty cheese I have ever had, a coconut macaron I would do that drive all over again for, Nutella Milka that tastes like a spoonful of Nutella just melted in your mouth and daily ice creams!) this trip ended up having everything I wanted!
but let’s talk about the journey...
Peak: On Saturday, about 16 hours away from home Addison finally decided that all her pre conceived notions on the dummy were wrong! and she sucked that little teat into her mouth, and allowed it to work its magic as she fell straight to sleep (and we all said hallelujah 🙌🙌)
Pit: Unfortunately about 50+ hours of driving preceded that moment, and almost every car journey (even the 5 minute ones to the Boulangerie, and especially the 3 hour ones to the mountains) Addi spent screaming as if her life depended on it! 🤦♀️
So if you thought our trip looked dreamy in the pics, just imagine all those scenic drives with an accompanied soundtrack of a screaming baby and you’ll get a more realistic picture! She’s put us off driving holidays for life...but we can’t be mad, because look how cute she is!
