7 days to go: made it to Fonfria and wow it was a hard day! The hill was never ending and slow going, it seems most people had planned their day to stop at the top and stay there (sensible), I on the other hand still had another 12k to go from the top. And it rained for that 12k too - after clear blue sky and all the heat for the hill climb, it literally turned to clouds and cold as I reached the top, by the end we had almost zero visibility which was less than ideal. Feet still throbbing but man I’m happy to be done and have a shorter day tomorrow (and the next day and the one after!). Luckily I ended up walking the last 6k with a girl who’s feet were also in bad shape - if I hadn’t met her I think this would’ve been the first time I was really tempted to give up half way and call a taxi. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Anyway. Back to the days of rocking on my bed hoping the pain will go away soon and allow sleep.
I have walked 125ks in the last 5 days and have another 150 to walk in the next 7 days. Still quite daunting and def better to just think one day at a time. So on that note, 20k tomorrow, it’s not the break I’d like but it’s def not as rough as today!
