Just before the release of our first record, Ok_Ma - Baby Blue (Jake Telford @ and I. Stuey Love on vocals.) the record label (Chicago’s Still Music) got a load of promo pics done of which this is one. The 12” contained a remix by Bennson (Ben Grayson (No Comply - Freestyle Records) from The Bamboos who were on Tru Thoughts records.) The record was a 135 bpm afro / house lick with Latin vibes n sweet vocal with a hint of reggae.
We initially made it to play at our Sat night dj residence in Shoreditch, London.
We noticed that tunes at a house tempo with dope afro type drums / percussion n Latin vibes always got the best response.
Kyri from R2 records @ gave me Nina Sky - Move ya body, which we sampled the drums off, before adding live percussion etc.
Each Sat night we’d test it on our dance floor to see the reaction and listen to the mix, making tweaks the following week. Finally Stuey (who worked with Nightmares on Wax) laid down his vocal. The dancefloor response was heavy! 😊🔥
