So far behind on processing, so I’m starting with most recent first. We went to National Park August 10-12. Friday night was great- hardly anyone around, but the crowds came on Saturday. We had checked out several out-of-the-way areas to shoot Saturday night, but one by one by the time we arrived, were already full. I knew the park would be crowded but really didn’t expect rush hour traffic after midnight, or having to step over bodies in parking lots in order to hike out, away from people. Luckily we made of long list of spots and got to several before the monsoonal clouds covered the sky. We did get to see some far away lightening and saw some great meteors…though didn’t catch any meteors in camera!
This is a single shot, but it took me many many shots to finally get the single shot I wanted! I found that if I started the 15 second exposure just before the car turned down another road it was just enough to light the joshua trees with just a little on the rock formation.
Light pollution from TwentyNine Palms mixed with smoke from the Lake Elsinore Holy Fire.
