In every season alterations to your skincare regimen should be made. With the arrival of colder months the low humidity level result in dry air, which then steals the moisture away from your skin. Here are a few tips to help your skin look & feel great all year round ☀️🍂❄️
️⃣ Change your cleanser. If you’re used to using options that contain acids & retinols, rotate with a more hydrating version that contains more moisturizing ingredients. Our Nova Skin Antioxidant Cleanser is a favorite during the dryer months.
️⃣ Don’t stop exfoliating! Try more scrubs) versus chemical exfoliants. Moisture can’t get in if the dead cells are too plentiful. Exfoliate regularly then follow immediately with moisture to see a smoother difference.
️⃣ Moisturize immediately after you wash! Your skin not only needs more moisture, but moisture right after you wash. Applying moisture to damp skin helps seal that dampness into the skin. Keep a bottle close and use liberally every time you wash. Even on your hands.
️⃣ Choose your moisturizer carefully! Some over-the-counter moisturizers have petroleum based ingredients that can further dry your skin. Be sure to choose a formula that has natural, nourishing ingredients. Our Nova Skin Dermaluxe Replenishing Cream is a perfect for dryer skin.
️⃣ Start incorporating masks. Moisturizing masks can provide that extra bit of needed moisture in the winter months. Start by adding one in 1-2 night a week. We love our Image Hydrating Vitamin C mask.
️⃣ No sun, does NOT mean you can skip the SPF!! UVB rays are weaker in the fall & winter, so you don't get sunburned as easily, but the UVA rays that cause wrinkles, premature aging and damage are just as strong, year round! We carry a great SPF with moisturizer that works great for the dryer months.
️⃣ Wash your face in lukewarm water. Hot showers always feel good, but when you can, choose lukewarm water to avoid stripping as many of the natural oils away from the skin as possible.
️⃣ Drink your water!! We tend to drink less water in the winter because we turn to hot drinks. But don’t forget that your skin needs hydration from the inside, out.
