When someone has something we desire for ourselves we typically express one of two instinctive emotions; admiration or jealousy. If you don't know much about their path to obtaining whatever it is you desire, you're likely to become jealous. That jealousy often leads to an attempt to discredit them to make yourself feel better about the fact that you don't have what they have. "They've been handed everything." "They're privileged." "Everything comes easy to them." And the big one in our lovely fitness industry, "They just have good genetics." First off, are you really that familiar with their lineage that you know what kind of DNA they've been handed down from their parents? Did you ever think MAYBE they just work harder than you, have a better approach and/or have more experience? And the most important question... if you're willing to state, as a fact, that all these people have such a genetic advantage over you, why keep trying to compete with them? Put less effort into demeaning those better than you and do what's necessary to get on their level.
