What a great reminder from google this morning. Sometimes in our journey of purpose, we need gentle reminders that re-centers our focus and perspective. When l was younger, l was always told by my family l had a caring heart and that children are drawn to me for that reason. My English name Josephine according to my mum means a good mother therefore, l have learned to make it part of my duty to be caring to all. Prior to starting Abena Aforo, l battled with either being a pediatrician or geriatric nurse. It took me a while to figure out my academic and career goals in order to align them with my purpose on earth. After starting Abena Aforo, my purpose became more clearer to me and l knew which direction to take my career to hence my desire to study a program @evmsedu that will bring me closer to my purpose.
A year ago, I was in Ghana my motherland spending time with my family and improving on my sewing skills and saw 4 children walking barefooted and playing around our neighborhood. The sight of them, placed a great desire in my heart to bring them hope since seeing them reminded me of my childhood. You see, l grew up just like them but God’s grace has abounded in mine to bring me to a point in life where l can also be a blessing to others especially in my mother Ghana.
I felt the undying need to bring more hope and light to these children by starting a non profit organization called Josie’s Haven (meaning the good Mother’s safety). After registering my organization in Ghana, l have found more purpose in Abena Aforo and realized Abena Aforo has been and continues to be the magnet that binds me to all my missions in life. I am so grateful to God for life, the gift of wisdom and the desire and ability to keep giving and sharing. Love is my foundation and my foundation is Abena Aforo (my birth given Ghanaian name)-Happy Sunday ❤️
