Galavanter @bettyyj “It’s pretty obvious that I love me some mountains. Perhaps what is the most unexpected result of that are the people I’ve been so fortunate to meet and reconnect with due to this mutual love for the mountains and the outdoors - the genuine connections made, the deep friendships developed, and the countless jokes and laughs on the trail. It’s now always rainbows and butterflies out there, sometimes it involves a lot of pain and just sheer motivation to get to the summit or to camp, but what is guaranteed are the good times due to the people you’re surrounded by. Thank you mountains not only for your vast and raw beauty, but also your ability to bring some pretty amazing people together.” 📸 @vanessafraser 〰️ Share your wilderness adventures and join the conversation by tagging @gogalavanting and use #GoGalavanting 🌸

Our first trip was in the fall and it was gorgeous. Now, seeing all these winter trips makes me want to go back and see it while it's quiet and covered in snow. I don't think there's a bad time to visit Yosemite.

There’s no expiration date on living your best life. I don’t care if you’re 23, 33 or 83. The time is now, the greatest adventure you can take it to live the life of your dreams. So what are you waiting for? Only YOU can give that to yourself. You only got one shot, you might as well give it all you’ve got 👌🏼✨

The next Tuesday I’ll be at work is three weeks from now 🤗. In the new year. Hopefully with some new dresses. ⁣ ⁣ I’ve been looking through my planner a lot this month, and the back pages where I wrote out my intentions for the year. I made a list of “what I am saying yes to” and “what I am saying no to” in 2018. It’s interesting to see where I have succeeded and failed within the lists. My yes column is a lot of “new” — I want to say yes to new experiences, new places, new people, new opportunities. And the no is to a lot of the opposite. No to the things that don’t serve me. Seeking approval. The things that don’t spark joy. ⁣ ⁣ I’ve stayed true to a lot of what I set out to do. But I felt some disappointment at the things I haven’t stood as firm on. Then I remembered — it’s still 2018. I can still say no or yes to these things. It’s not over. I still have a choice what I let in and how I live my life each and every day. ⁣ ⁣ And then guess what: I can continue it next year. Make a new list. Decide some of my no’s are yes’s and yes’s might be no’s. Because as good as a new year feels, the end of something can feel just as bad. You’re not where you thought you’d be. Experienced more disappointments than accomplishments. But, you guys, the world keeps turning. Life keeps going. You have two weeks, and then the two after that. And after that and after that. It’s okay to try again. Say yes to that. It’s not over. - Dress @modcloth #modclothsquad

We only had one day in Lassen, so we knew we had to make the most of it! Driving through on the scenic highway is an obvious “must,” but we also knew we wanted to get a hike in. We chose to hike the trail to the top of Cinder Cone Volcano because we heard the views were amazing, AND we wanted to be able to say we climbed a volcano 🌋 Let me tell you, the views are absolutely stunning! ((see Stories for more of those)) But we learned the hard way that leaving this hike for the end of the day wasn’t ideal. Because we had limited time, we had to climb pretty much straight up the side, instead of the trail that circles more gradually around the cone. We did get to the top in time to catch the incredible views in all directions - Lassen Peak, the Fantastic Lava Beds, the Painted Dunes, Snag Lake, etc. AND we were treated to one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen 🌅 That meant we had to haul ass back down, though, and we finished most of our hike in the dark 🤷🏻‍♀️ but it was worth all that AND the screaming muscles haha 10/10 would recommend making time for this hike when you visit Lassen (because you’re obviously putting it at the top of your “must-go” list, right? 😉) • • • #wanderbeyondher #liveoutside #parkroamers #hikingculture #outsideculture #andshesdopetoo #gogalavanting #wearethewild #shetravels #hikingadventure #girlswhohike #mylifeoutdoors #femmetravel #getoutandexplore #girlgetoutside #sheexplores #modernhiker #travelerslife #usatravel #livetoexplore #wildernessbabes #sheisnotlost #radgirlscollective #ventureoutdoors #allaboutadventures #girlsthatwander #sheadventures #mtnchicks #wanderbabe #lassenvolcanicnationalpark

I run because: 🏃🏼‍♀️it makes me feel beautiful, powerful, confident 🏃🏼‍♀️it helps me to be a more positive person 🏃🏼‍♀️hard shit builds character👊🏼 and running can be hard AF! 🏃🏼‍♀️I forget about the fact that my face is breaking out, or that the scale showed an extra 5 lbs that morning. I don’t care about those things when I run. Instead, I focus on what powerful things my body can do! 🏃🏼‍♀️I get to explore the most BEAUTIFUL places that I probably wouldn’t have otherwise 🏃🏼‍♀️I’ve met some of the best people I know through running 🏃🏼‍♀️I’m able to spread the knowledge I’ve gained through running to others & thus improve their lives, too • Please share why YOU run! ✨ • Www.bodybyamyd.com

If you would have told me a year ago I’d be blogging full time, I would have said it’s a dream. I had so many ideas but no direction. I didn’t know how to make it a reality. I’ve been blogging consistently for just under 3 months and it’s surprised me, in the best of ways, more than I could have ever imagined. Here’s some of the things I’ve been learning. 1. Start. That’s the secret. You just have to start. It’s difficult but still so easy. My biggest piece of advice, start. 2. Be consistent. Let your readers know what they can expect. Mine? A minimum of 1 blog post a week but 2 is the goal (I’ve got a new system and so far so good!) 3. Serve, serve, serve. Blogging is a space to share your knowledge, dreams, thoughts, and life with others. However you choose to blog and whatever it is you choose to blog about make sure it’s worth reading for your readers and community. 4. Be flexible. When I started, I thought I’d primarily be a travel blogger. I’d live with my husband and cat and I'd write about our adventures and travels. It’s shifted to look a lot more like every day life and I’m really digging it. People are too. Be willing to try different avenues to blog about. 5. Don’t get caught up in the details. There’s a lot that goes in to blogging to make it legit. SEO, website hosting, branding, domain names, Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram, email lists. Don’t let that stop or overwhelm you. Start by writing and go from there. Be consistent and figure the rest out as you go. 6. You have to tell people what you’re doing. You can’t assume people are watching your every move. With so much happening on social media and life, you have to let people know what you’re offering them. When you write, let them know about it. When you post tell them….and then tell them again. You have to get over the vanity part of it and start promoting your work. If you really believe in what you’re doing, others will too. 7. We all have something to write about. For real. It can be anything. If you're stuck, think of what people ask you about the most. We're all an expert in something! Let me know what questions you have about blogging below! I'd love to hear from you!

I love these mountains snow much! You guys, I slipped on ice yesterday. Not just a little slip where you almost fall but then catch yourself and pretend it never happened. No, this was a big slip. The on your ass, sprawled out in the middle of the road, keys that way, bag this way, hat... oh phew still have my hat, kind of slip. As I was laying there contemplating whether I would walk again (okay, that worry is a tad dramatic but if you’ve ever gone down hard on ice you know I’m not totally insane for letting the thought cross my mind... but let’s go with whether I would walk this one off) and wondering why I insist on living in a place where walking to work is a veritable hazard, all the while the dog is licking my face out of concern, I just had to laugh. Mountain life is a strange life—sometimes flat out ridiculous, really. It’s weird and it’s challenging and sometimes you end up on your ass (true for all lifestyles I guess but none more literally than mountain life). Other times you have to be super strategic about how you write your address so your dog food will actually arrive at said address in time to feed your creature (⬅️ true story). I wrote about seven weird things mountain life has taught me on my blog (link in my bio). Maybe I should add an eighth one about the hazards of winter walking? Would love to have you give it a read and tell me about any weird things you learned from places you’ve lived or traveled in the comments! Photo: @craigwestphoto

hey hey WanderBabe fam - I’m @nikkilynn.w and I’m stoked to be doing this #TakeoverTuesday! In 2018, my husband and I lived in a couple different parts of California (he’s a travel nurse, so we move every 3-6 months). And WOW - we absolutely fell in love with Cali’s beauty and diversity. One of our favorite things was exploring as many of the National Parks as possible. So, today, I want to share one of our best adventures in a VASTLY underrated park - Lassen Volcanic National Park! My brother drove us to a Rock Climbing gym this weekend, I’ve been wanting to try it out for awhile now. All the inspiration online has tempted me for some time. It didn’t disappoint, it was fun, very! It’s also challenging, makes your hands sore, activates muscles deep within your forearm and other places, and is addictive. I’m definitely going to return. The staff was so helpful and I’m excited to learn more. One day I could be comfortable and equipped with enough knowledge and equipment to do some Rock Climbing outdoors. 🧗🏽‍♀️ . . . . . . #nativewomenswilderness #nativesoutdoors #notasuck #firsttimer #newbie #womenwhoexplore #liveyouradventure #sheexplores #andshesdopetoo #rockclimbinggym #rockclimbingwomen #climbingadventures #dustyourselfoffandtryagain
