We ventured off our beaten path this last weekend and visited the #colusawildliferefuge where we discovered this golden beauty. When we shared our excitement in seeing a wild coyote we quickly learned that not everyone sees through our lenses, or perhaps we filtered out some of the peskier views in favor of our awe? 🙂
My take on nature is that respecting it does not take away from my will to survive, nor the coyote's dignity but improves our ability to sustain a thoughtful and balanced life-- not a perfect life but one that says don't bring unnecessary pain and suffering to others.
One can respect without inflicting unnecessary cruelty. Take the cruel suffering to rodents with the use of anticoagulant rodenticides.
Teaching respect simply means planting a seed toward more thoughtful problem solving that extends beyond one's own needs to consider the impact on all life toward making the best possible choices-- for the highest good of all.
Maybe I just happen to love coyotes and while I don't want to be eaten by one, I don't want to miss out on seeing the spirit of them, free.
So today at least this coyote is free to live the life nature intended and I'm happy to find our earth's beauty, still astounds... These are my thoughts for the day.
Here's to the fearless, wild and free nature inside us all. 🐀
