WatchdogMary: A Texas rescue is looking for tips and clues tonight. This yellow lab was found tied to a pole in Fort Worth, Texas with a horrible wound on Thursday evening September 13, 2018 in the 3500 block of NE 28th Street.
When Fort Worth Animal Care & Control officers picked her up, no one was around. They brought her to the shelter, tried to take care of her, and named her Pearl.
Lucky Lab Rescue and Adoption later picked her up and brought her to an animal hospital.
The original call about Pearl came into the city from someone who reported she was hit by a car, but the vets have found no evidence of a vehicle strike. She had no broken bones, abrasions, road rash types of injuries, etc. Now rescuers are looking for tips and clues as to what happened to Pearl. They worry someone harmed her.
And in a heartbreaking turn of events, after days of getting IV antibiotics, fluids and surgeries, today Pearl died. An infection she developed turned septic.
The rescue and its supporters are devastated. Pearl was a gentle and sweet dog. The rescue’s vet was even in tears saying, “She was a great dog, just a great dog.” Rescuers are now wanting justice for Pearl. If anyone has any tips or information on what happened to her feel free to message the WatchdogMary Instagram page, or let the Fort Worth Police Department know. The rescue has asked police and animal control to open an investigation and check area surveillance cameras to look for clues.
