My Mom painted this very special Christmas picture for me. Stephanie, Coco, and Tux were my animal friends growing up.
Coco, my pony, took me on some wild rides. We loved trail riding and jumping downed logs, even dressed up for the Farmer’s Day Parade for several years.
Stephanie, well she taught me patience. I couldn’t stand riding that horse when I first got her because she was too hard to handle. Over the years though I came to love that horse. She would take me anywhere, over and through anything. I didn’t have to tie her if I was staying close, and she would walk right by my side without being led. She was smart, sometimes too smart to be caught in the pasture. I’m so thankful we didn’t give up in each other in the beginning.
Tux, the most memorable of our cats. He loved being rubbed but didn’t care much for being held. We never had indoor pets growing up but during the winters he would come in during the morning and evening for a little while, drink some milk, lounge by the wood stove, and let me rub him. When he was ready to go, he’d let you know by going to the door.
Many lessons were learned from these wonderful pets and they made my childhood extra special. 💜💜💜
