NEW LESSON PLAN! The Stirling Heads were wooden carvings that decorated the ceiling of the King’s Presence Chamber in @ Scotland’s Stirling Castle. Each of the carvings features a different portrait. Some of the portraits are believed to be royalty, or figures from Greek mythology, or figures from the Bible.
This elementary art lesson introduces students to medieval art and design. Students will create a ceramic plaque of their personal hero using slab construction methods.
This 12-page lesson plan includes: information about the artwork, objectives, National Core Arts Standards, materials list, procedure, assessment, and extension, as well as resource links, and original Stirling Head images and student example images for inspiration. The document also includes a photo step-by-step directions sheet for students to refer to as they are constructing their plaque. Download the lesson plan at mrdewildeart.com! Link in bio!
