DESERT LIGHT @tscharke and I had two fantastic @astroworkshops in Uluru this year, and our last night with each group gave us opportunity to take in @brucemunrostudio amazing Field of Light with sunset canapes overlooking the huge installation of 50,000 spheres of light as darkness fell and the lights came on. A huge thanks to the @exploreuluru team who really took care of us giving us our own area to setup tripods, and afterwards directing us to some special spots where tripods could be setup closer to the field, and it just so happened, a rising Milky Way was in clear view through the desert oaks in crisp clear red centre skies. What a fantastic way to conclude the trip. And in 2019, we're doing it again, with 2 more Uluru AstroWorkshops that includes a Field of Light Star Pass experience. Bookings are open now, so head over to AstroWorkshops.com to reserve your place now. ________________ Canon 5D Mk IV Samyang 14mm f/2.4 XP Copyright to the Artist: Bruce Munro All rights reserved. V1331 Cyg is a young (T Tauri type) star, located within the dark cloud LDN 981 (Lynds 981). When we see most young stars, they are hidden in a cloud of dust. But here, we look almost exactly down one of the poles of the star, with jets that sweep away the dust, giving us a near-perfect view of a young star, still coalescing into a stellar body like our own Sun. - Add Astronomy News with the Cosmic Companion to your flash briefing on Amazon Alexa! - Image: ESA/Hubble, NASA - #astronomy #space #star #hubble #hubblespacetelescope #stars #astrophotography #astrophoto #science #sciences #scienceteacher #scienceteachers #astronomyteacher #astronomydepartment #esa #nasa #spacetelescope #spaceart #nasa🚀 #nasagoddard #nasajpl #jetpropulsionlaboratory #starstuff #stars🌟 #astronomyfacts #astronomyy #astrophysics #astro_photography_ #astronomie #thecosmiccompanion

Dreamland Hike 2/Day 3: my personal dreamland - up in the Sierra with my tent at a lake under a dark sky with the Milky Way shining on me. Thanks to the windless conditions, the reflection was close to perfection (no photoshop mirroring btw) Geek stuff: 2 stacks of 15 exposures (Sky, Reflection), 10sec, f/2.8, ISO1600 each, separate single exposure for the mountains at 30sec, f/2.0, ISO800

Henry Hungerland in Malibu --- REPOST: @henryhungerlandphoto from fb.groups/milkywaychasers chosen by @missjessbess --- Milky Way Chasers Admin: @tracyleephotos --- #milkywaychasers to be featured or post on Facebook.com/groups/milkywaychasers. Tag a friend who might enjoy this Milky Way image and journey! --- From Henry about this image: —- STACKED/TRACKED facebook.com/henry.hungerland Instagram: @henryhungerlandphoto This is my first somewhat successful attempt at deep sky photography. I know that with more images and a clear dark sky I would get much better results. This is in a Bortle 4 or 5 sky in Malibu. I had played around on nights in September after shooting the MW, but always got a breeze that would shake the setup. This is from my backyard in October, at 3:30am after Orion moved to darker skies, away from the glow of LA. This setup is about the maximum load for the iOptron Sky Tracker Pro, and it still makes me a bit nervous that one little screw holds it all together. Out of 20 images I only got 13 usable. Anyone have tips for wind blocks around the tripod? Nikon D 850, Nikon 500mm/f4, Nikon 1.7 teleconverter. iOptron Skytracker Pro with extra counterweight. 13 images, ISO3200,f8, 15 seconds Stacked in Starry Sky Stacker, edited in LR.
