I did it!
I officially completed my Appalachian Trail thru hike on October 12, 2018! After over 7 months of juggling full time hiking with full time schooling, she's a wrap!
I don't have the words to describe my heart. I'm over the moon elated, shocked, proud, surprised, and exhausted. I started up the approach trail in Georgia on February 25th at 2pm with zero clue what I was about to encounter, endure, and experience. I knew everything I was afraid of, and I conquered all of that nonsense countless times out here. From the blistering cold snow storms to the raging heat waves, hiking with my tramily to no sign of life for days, wondering IF I could to wondering WHEN I would, from Georgia to Maine and all of the miles in between, this trail has been the most amazing adventure of my life. This trail has taught me how to love myself without judgment, to do everything to the best of my ability, to see the good in the world before the bad, and to 100% know that anything is possible. This was a physical challenge for sure, but the mental reward is so much stronger. I camped alone at night with crazy howling, screams, and sniffs around my tent. I hiked at night and have had to be the one to charge glowing eyes following me. I've seen a wolf starring at me, been chased by a turkey, launched at by a snake, and ignored by bears. I've fallen countless times, dislocated my shoulder three times, and my ankles have rolled more times than I care to count. I've sewed shoes together on a few occasions, ripped holes in my pants, flooded my tent, hitch hiked in my undies, jumped off of bridges, taken food from strangers, and trusted people with my life while only knowing their trail names. I miss it already, but those amazing people, that amazing trail, and those unforgettable memories will always be with me.
Thank you to everyone for your incredible support, love, and positivity!
