I often get the question, "So, How did you get started doing weight lifting?" It's always that confused type look too, like, this isn't typical for a girl to do, so how can it possibly peak your interest.
I've always been strong growing up. Physically and mentally. It's just what happens when both of your parents are athletes and are naturally strong-physically and mentally too. My parents always pushed me, and sports just always came naturally to me. So, when things become easy, I like to change it up. My favorite quote is, "What doesn't challenge you, doesn't change you." I think about it constantly. I live by it.
I've also never been one to do what everyone else is doing. As a matter of fact, if you're all doing something, I'm B-lining it in the opposite direction. I thrive on anything that challenges me and, makes me really step out of my comfort zone. Things that make me really push myself and see what my body is capable of doing. I knew I wanted big changes for my body this year. So, I found weight lifting when they offered it in my crossfit gym, that I also had just switched to doing as well. I was majorly overwhelmed by stepping into this whole new fitness world. But guess what? I didn't let it stop me. I'm working hard. I feel so comfortable walking into my gym. It's like a big hug every time I walk in. I have met some of the best people too. I'm now looking forward to doing my first crossfit competition in August and my first weight lifting competition in November. I had a vision for myself, and I wanted to be better. I'm gonna make sure that happens. Stepping out of your comfort zone really does have its perks. So just do it!
