TERRIFIED #baby #elephant Suman is literally wailing for her #mother as she as she struggles against the ropes holding down her #legs in her #tiny concrete cage. Campaigners are calling on cruel traffickers to release Suman.
Charity #Wildlife SOS is calling on the government in Rajasthan, India, to seize the #animal and arrest the captors.
Kartick Satyanarayan, co-founder and CEO at the charity, said, "Suman is a helpless elephant calf separated from her mother. "There are other calves that suffer a similar fate like her.
Until now she's had no one to fight for her, to give her a voice. "Several elephants are living this life in #India but they remain hidden and suffer from an illegal existence. "We are reaching out to our supporters and elephant lovers across the #world to stand strong for Suman and ensure her future is safe with us and that she is reunited with her sister, Peanut." Her captors purchased her illegally from a #circus in Maharashtra before the #government ordered the seizure of the remaining elephants, campaigners said.
Campaigners say her captor rents out #elephants for functions and plan to sell Suman to a "rich client". A petition to save her can be signed here : https://bit.ly/2IA3jwa
