Meet “Mateo” the 3 day old lamb we took in this morning, this is a life or death rehab and we are grateful to have the skills and staff to assist with saving little ones who are struggling.
We have many new followers since the Carr and Camp fires, but as most of you know, just because we are assisting with these disasters doesn’t mean our regular support for our local community and animals has stoped or even slowed down.
Our staff are busy angels working day and night to care for the animals on site, fielding hundreds of calls, emails and messages a day, and working hard on adopting out as many as possible to make room for unclaimed fire victims when the time comes that the evac sites close.
This little life requires around the clock care, feeding by syringe every 30 minutes, stimulation and warmth. After hours of lifelessness, little Mateo is slowly coming back to life. He was found by his house sitters freezing and weak, his siblings had already parished and mom appears to have either rejected them or is suffering from mastitis and can not care for them.
Please send positive thoughts to this sweet little lamb, he is not out of the woods yet. Here you can see him becoming aware of his surroundings while warming up on the couch in a heating blanket with our director Erica.
