This is the first post to document the progression of this appartment backyard. I'm excited to see where this leads. All I did was take out the major weeds. The little ones aren't important yet because I need to figure out what to do with this backyard. Some things I'm thinking about is using mulch, ground covers, and some flowers.
Steel hand tiller, Corona multipurpose garden hand tool aka push cultivator, and a rake.
What I did:
I used the hand tiller first and targeted the base of the roots. Then, I pulled everything out and I used the push cultivator to loosen up the soil for smaller and/or stronger roots. I could of used the hand tiller but it would of taken longer. Then I used the rake to get any debris left over.
What I'm wearing:
Dickies long sleeve work shirt, double duck Carhartt pants, Timberland leather belt, and boots. The Carhartt pants may have seem excessive at first but was a huge complement. These weeds had spikes that would of penetrated normal Jeans. It would of also have been hard to hand pick them out of the jeans. With the carhartt double duck pants I didn't have any of those problems.
