This week we will be looking at banded compound lifts and the benefits that they can have on an athlete's power development
What are banded compound lifts?
Banded compound lifts are another variation that coaches may use on their athletes to help develop rate of force development and explosive strength. The use of bands to create more resistance on the concentric portion of a lift can help increase an athletes power output and force production
Reps and Sets for power production?
To work specifically on power production you want to ensure that the weight on the bar is set to 50-65% of an athlete's one rep max. The eccentric part of the lift should last around 3 seconds with concentric part as explosive as possible. Reps should be around 3-5 when concentrating on power production. Even though training with bands is a great way to increase power and force production. It's a method of training that needs to be programmed properly, as this method can be taxing on the body
