Still a few eggs being laid although the hens have really slowed down now that the days are shorter and there are less hours of light, along with cooler temperatures.
Many people suggest that I should put lights on & provide heat lamps to encourage them to increase their egg laying over winter but I strongly disagree with this.
Many of my girls have moulted/are moulting and their little bodies deserve a rest over the cold months. They aren’t machines, they’re my pets! So winter comprises of warm cosy straw filled covered runs, straw bales to snooze on, lots of good quality layers pellets and Omega Mash both from @ I also give them cabbages and other greens when the nutrition in the grass is minimal 🐓this way there’s less stress for them and hopefully they’ll live long and happy lives with me 👍
