Every time I move, I let the rooms and walls speak to me. With every apartment, creating a Feel that is reflective of what the space is saying. Whether it be the architecture, structure, finished carpentry (many bad) and interior design of the apartment- modern, character, cottage, whatever, I let it guide me to what it seems to be calling for. In this particular case, the walls were quite bad but the bathroom lacked life. It had no windows, no light, was small as a closet- and although Some would argue that black would bring out the defects of the walls and allow the bathroom to appear smaller and darker, I felt painting it black would have to opposite effect. The defects in the wall are noticeable, but I felt it added character and the black provided a cozy ambient to a rather dull space. Plus the black wall from our long hallway gave a sense of infinity, dimension as the white and gold letters reflected the light. At this period of my life, Faith seemed to have taken a back burner with my dreams - and I wanted to wake up everyday reminding myself of the magic of the world. One of my favourite Roald Dahl quotes and one I live by faithfully. TBT to my bathroom wall 2015.
