#mountaintime ⛰ So it’s been a minute since I’ve been out on my mountain. Like July 12 to be exact. 😱 Hard to believe how much I haven’t been able to do because of my foot pain. But today I didn’t have any problems. Hopefully things are healing & I can finally get back to having a life. After this mini-hike, I thought it would be a great idea to walk over to the park for some #deathbykayla since it’s also been another minute from my last right & proper workout. 🍂#fallingforfall 🍂 After a week of cold, cloudy, rainy weather, today the sun appeared, the temps were perfect & it was GLORIOUS!!! . Thoroughly enjoyed my sunset walk. But... . Sometime after my walk when I was running errands, my Fitbit totally crapped out. 💩 Not working AT ALL! Aaaagh! 🤯🤬😥 . It’s still under warranty, so I’ll get it dealt with. . . But who knows how long that will take. In the meantime, I ordered the basic/inexpensive Flex 2 for pick up at Best Buy in the morning to hold me over until I get a new Charge 2. 🦉 #workoutbuddy 🦉 We have some new neighbors that have moved into a vacant building down the block. They’re real, and they’re spectacular. . My hubby saw them a few days ago. On my walk this evening, I made sure to check the rafters as I walked by...& was beyond excited to see one there!!! Since it was dusk, my pics were crap, so these were taken by the hubby in the daylight. But I wanted you guys to see these magnificent creatures. . Unfazed by my presence, I was able to get fairly close. We looked into each other’s eyes for a good minute before he (or she) went back to scanning the adjacent field for dinner. It’s a magical experience. . I’m sure the owl thought I was ridiculous because I totally fan girled lol. What’s the definition of insanity again? 🤔 oh that’s right, doing the same thing over & over while expecting different results. So this is me doing something new 👆🏼 My body doesn’t respond well to low carb. BUT, seeing as my cholesterol is constantly borderline despite a healthy diet (HDL is too low & LDL is too high) & active lifestyle, I’m trying a low fat diet. I’ve been wanting to do this for a while & I suppose my dad’s heart attack (& death) woke me up even more 🍴New goal: 40g of fat or less per day. Today, I even managed to fit in some Ben & Jerry’s while staying in a calorie deficit 👯‍♀️ <~~ that’s my happy dance 🤣

✌️#day2 ✌️ Thought it would be good to do a little #bbg today. Didn’t want to overdo it, so stuck with the beginner level since it’s been a month since my last #sweatwithkayla sesh. But weeks 1-2 looked a little easy, so went for week 3. 🤔 The first circuit was fine; got through each exercise twice per usual. But the second circuit... Oh my. Hello #deathbykayla. Mountain climber push ups, toe taps, lay down push ups, commandos. Let’s just say there were copious breaks that were filled with panting. But I got it done & will be stronger next time. 💪 Also made a trip to the gym for elliptical, and walked a mile around the block this evening. How long has it been since I had a high-flying ponytail shot? Umm, April 12. 😁 #gymselfie 😁 Ok, so technically this pic is outside the gym after my workout. The lighting is better. 😉 But the important thing here is that I was able to workout PAIN FREE!!! My mummy feet tape is working. Yeah! Planet Fitness offers free classes (group workouts for to 5 people). Have no idea why I haven’t taken advantage of this service. Was GREAT! I was the only one, so I had the trainer all to myself. By signing up, I was held accountable to show up. And I could do a strength circuit that I didn’t have to plan or think about. Sweet! Add some elliptical & stretching, and it was a great workout. Did a bunch of errands too, so I was on my feet all day. Last time I had a day like this, I could barely walk at the end of the day. But my feet feel fine! Finally some light at the end of the tunnel, and all it took was a massive amount of tape! Because I’ve been staying off my feet pretty much all of August, daily activity has only been 1-2 miles. Pretty much killing my #runtheyear goals. But I got in 6 total miles today. Stoked! I even planned out all my workouts for the next week (something I never do!) and signed up for 4 classes at PF next week. Hidden trails in Broomfield? Yes, please 🌿 - I may be slow as a turtle, but I’m out here doin’ the damn thing 👊🏼 An easy one mile jog to test out the pain level with the @kttape. Last week I could barely do a 1/2 mile walk before I had to stop bc the pain was so bad. I don’t want to get too excited too soon, but my knee feels great right now. We’ll see how it feels this evening and with more exercise 🤞🏼 - P.S. I’ve learned to stop pulling on my shorts as I run. I have thick thighs. Always will. I own short shorts. For @graymatterstrong #imagesofstrength 💕 - I found the picture on the very left a couple nights ago. I was about 180lbs here and I think subconsciously I would put my daughter’s body in front of mine so it would hide me a little. I didn’t realize how big I was. Fast fwd to April 2016. I was my fittest. I just ran a 10k IN MY SPORTS BRA! I was a year into my fitness journey and nothing was stopping me. Until...I stopped. For the next two years I was on and off working out (mostly off). 😕 - Fast fwd to now. Ive been consistent for six months. I’m definitely not where I was. I’m not as fit. I’m not as strong. But I KEEP COMING BACK. It takes strength not to completely let go and give up. It takes strength to start over again. That’s what I see when I look at these pics together. A strong woman that refuses to give up 💪🏼 - I’ve been doing this “fitness thing” since March 2015. I’ve seen a lot of ladies lose weight. Get stronger and keep it that way for years. Kudos to them 🙌🏼 But I’ve also seen A LOT of ladies just like me who lost and gained it all back. Progress can be a roller coaster ↗️↘️➡️↘️↗️ I just want others to know, who cares how many times you start and stop. Keep coming back. Keep kicking ass. It doesn’t matter where you were as long as you keep working on yourself...physically, mentally, and spiritually 💕

✨ CLARITY ✨⠀ .⠀ .⠀ First of alllll, if you haven’t yet read “High Performance Habits” by @brendonburchard, finish reading this, put the phone down and GO BUY IT. He has spoken straight to my heart and soul and I truly believe it is full of effective tools for ANY individual in ANY time in life as long as you’re willing to put in the work 👊🏻 Which brings me to #motivationmonday and the word (and first habit) CLARITY. . . This chapter reallllly put into words how I was feeling prior to coaching. An indecisiveness on what truly brings me happiness. Feeling like I was just “going through the motions/emotions” at my job. And not knowing how to find that sense of clarity for my future despite being deemed ‘successful’ in my career. . . Now I realize that going into the week, day or hour with INTENTION is crucial for finding meaningful interactions. Also have some homework to do in regards to finding ALL the things that bring me a sense of meaning (not just “my job”), the feelings I WANT to experience in life and how to have intention in all things I do. This sounds selfish but by doing these things, we bring our best selves to the table and can find presence and connection with those we interact with daily. . . For now, I know my goals THIS MONTH... to inspire more women to find the joy I’ve found in coaching, to develop my skills as a leader, give myself a freaking pay raise 💎, celebrate the victories of friends and to feel truly MYSELF heading into 29 (like I didn’t quite feel in this photo above). When I turned 28, I made a vision board for my self that said “Get fit, look great and find JOY” but this year has already been SO much more than that ✨ . . “You have to have a vision for yourself in the future. You have to discern how you want to feel and what will be meaningful to you. Without those practices, you have nothing to dream of and strive for, no pop and zest in your daily life propelling you forward.” -Brendon Burchard

#natureismygym ⛰ First workout in 10 days. The plantar fasciitis was so bad last week that I succumbed & got cortisone shots in my feet. It sucked as bad as you think. Then the pain got worse. For days. Finally a week later I started noticing some improvement. It’s not 100% gone, but at least I felt like I could do a workout today. And what a workout it was. Full body home workout by #pitagrace was pure death. Was wiped & totally soaked at the end.
