Beautiful run up the foot hills this morning! Trail running is something I'm new at, @actively.natalie got me turned onto it, and I have to say it's pretty HARD! It was a nice change and a nice challenge though. The best part is when you get home you realize you left your keys at the top!!!🤦‍♀️😣🤣

grab a mat & do this ab workoutttt💥 love doing little ab sets after upper or lower body days🙌🏼 we did 4 exercises for a total of 7 min and repeated the whole sequence x2✌🏼 1. leg raises (hold onto ankles, extra force of the push creates resistance and that burnsss) 2. downdog to plank with alternate shoulder taps 3. forearm plank with side open mountain climbers 4. half sit ups with feet in table top and hand to heel touches 5. a little fun and giggles bc working out should not be a chore!! it’s a space to celebrate your body and doing it with someone makes it 1000x more enjoyable🌞 happy happy friday loves💛

HOW I MANAGE THE WEEKENDS: Happy Friday guys!! Who’s excited for the weekend?? I know I am after living at work this week I am just so happy to lay around tonight and not do anything. 🙌🏼 Normally weekends are my time to let loose, eat pizza, have a few drinks! Which you SHOULD! 🍕Currently being on day 9 of Whole 30 I can’t this weekend which is a huge challenge for me, but I think it’s only healthy to be able to enjoy the foods that you love with friends and family! It’s not healthy to restrict forever, and there’s so much amazing food on this planet to try. That being said, be smart about it!! I try to choose one meal on Friday and one on Saturday to eat whatever I want and then eat healthy the rest of the day and on Sunday to avoid having a major setback in the progress I want to see. Nothing, and I mean nothing makes me happier than ice cream and pizza🤗 By doing this and focusing on hitting your goals during the week and your other meals on the weekend, you can make sure you’re eating 80% clean instead of it sliding down a slippery slope. I also do workout on the weekends I’m off, it’s my fav time to go and knock out my #bbgstronger workouts and get cardio done in the same day because I’m not rushed and the gym is empty! I always look at the gym on the weekends as something to enjoy and not be a chore 🏋🏼‍♀️ Enjoy the weekend!! Let me know if you guys are doing any fun workouts or going anywhere cool! It’s been forever since I’ve done a #guthealth update so I thought it was time to share some progress! I am in shock looking at that photo on the left; that was pretty much my norm and the image doesn’t even capture how awful I felt most of the time (nauseous, fatigued, foggy, anxious). After 8 months of healing my gut through nutrition, herbal supplementation and lifestyle changes I’m happy to report that is no longer my baseline, though I do have flare ups. I encourage anyone with questions to look at my GUT highlight but here are some things I’ve done to help: • avoid foods I’m sensitive to • take supplements to support my gut • walk in the morning in the sunshine ☀️ (vitamin D is IMPORTANT!) • meditate (10 minutes in silence am and pm) • no phone before bed or at least 30 mins after waking (sleep hygiene) • switch up my exercise routine to lower impact/intensity. While nutrition and supplementation obviously have a big role in gut health it is so important to look at the BIG picture! I’m getting retested in the next couple weeks to see where things stand and I can’t wait to find out my results. Wishing it was back to last week when it was sunny with no chance of rain to ruin hike plans, and I had just gotten my September @ellieactivewear box 🤗 this month came with a sleeveless hooded vest, sports bra, and some cute leggings! Obvs chose abs over face for the photo, but they were looking pretty stellar 🤗🤗🙃🙃 drowning in 3 assignments currently and don’t see much time for the gym today or tomorrow with class so wish me luck! Something I’ll def have to do when I prep is a lot of my assignments in advance (or I should just start doing that in general) so that I don’t get bogged down by them and skip the gym! - Also just realized my hands are thrown up in my last 2 pics oops haha

Been struggling with my workouts a little lately... I have been lacking motivation but not sure why... not sure if these pics show progress or my arm is just positioned differently.. and randomly happen to be wearing the same shirt 😂😂😂 trying to focus on being happy with the progress I’ve made from where I started. Sometimes I think I get too caught up in “I wanna be skinny” or “I wanna be strong” and this ends up distracting me in my workouts. I work the next three days so I won’t be working out. Hopefully I can find my focus and get back to the groove on Tuesday.

Flashback Friday ~~ So, funny story: when I was at the beach a few weeks ago, I decided not to post the picture on the right because of my “back fat” (That’s one area of my body I’ve always been self conscious about) . I came across the picture on the left today (from April 2017) and was amazed - I realized that was what I thought my back still looked like today. . It’s crazy how day by day, we don’t see the changes in our body. How can we? We see ourselves 24/7. But put two pictures next to each other & it makes a world of a difference! . **** #100STRONGCHALLENGE**** I like this week’s challenge because I feel it it’s important to reflect back on any journey you go through 🛤 If I could go back, I would tell the girl I was that it’s okay not to be *perfect* Growing up, everything I applied myself to I always tried to be perfect at it. School, music, competitive dance, or even just trying new things. To a certain extent, this can be unhealthy because when you focus on only the result, you tend to forget the memories of getting there. I would tell that girl that it’s okay to be unfamiliar with things, to make mistakes (even public, embarrassing ones 😋) and to laugh at yourself even. I would tell her to just ✨SMILE✨ and to not sweat the small stuff. This doesn’t apply to just a fitness lifestyle, but literally to every aspect of your life. Life is short. “Don’t lift weights”, they said. “You’ll get too big”, they said. “Don’t share you’re journey - no one wants to hear that”. “You’ll never be strong because of your injury”. 😬 - These are just a few things I’ve heard from others and have told myself. They all have one thing in common: they’re WRONG. ☝🏼 - As someone who has lived with chronic pain for years, strength training has been the answer. It’s been a journey as I’ve had to go slow, but I’m stronger now than I’ve ever been. 💪🏼 - And as for getting ‘too big’? Ladies, we just don’t have the testosterone to get those manly muscles that so many women are afraid of. Strength training had changed my body - and by that I mean it’s changed it into a more toned fat-burning furnace! 🔥 So don’t be afraid to pick up some dumbbells! (That’s all I use!) 🤗 - And as for sharing my journey? It still feels unnatural at times (I’m such an introvert at heart), but I told myself that if I can inspire just one person who is on their own journey or to get started, then it will be worth it. 💚 Turns out this has happened a few more times than I thought and has grown into a tribe of women who are like family! 👭 - So when the negative Nancys and doubting Debbies get to you, remind yourself why you’re on this journey, keep your chin up, and change the narrative. Instead of allowing the negative talk (whether it’s from yourself or others), practice gratitude and be thankful for the amazing things your body can do! 💚🙌🏼

This has become one our go-to meals, not only because it’s delicious but also super healthy and easy to throw together quickly! 🙌🏼💚 - Simply brown lean ground turkey, add a bell pepper and frozen cauliflower rice. Sauté until warmed through. Then add your fav taco 🌮 bowl toppings! This is chopped romaine, shredded cheese, fresh salsa, homemade guacamole 🥑, and plain Greek yogurt (instead of sour cream) - & of course topped with our fav hot sauce!) 🔥 - Mix together and swoon! 😍 - My fav healthy swaps have got to be using plain 0% Greek yogurt instead of sour cream and of course - cauliflower rice!! What an awesome way to hide veggies! 🙌🏼 - What’s your fav cauliflower rice recipe?!?

And even practiced some negatives on an outdoor pull-up bar we found! This is a great way to work on building up my strength to do a real pull-up since I’m not able to yet! . . . DINNER We are trying out @goustocooking this week, so trying to fit my BBG nutrition around it, but for this one I’ve had to guesstimate a little bit; I’ve had a bit less fat today as the sausages are obviously full of it, and no other meat or eggs, so this is counting as 2.5 meat and the rest of my fat. I’m not a fitness instructor I only can share my experience what worked for me with @kayla_itsines BBG. I was asked by a few of you girls how to loose weight, how I started and if I got some HELP instructions. ❗️Results are not made overnight - it is hard work ❗️So do I have to follow Kaylas mealplan when I’m doing BBG? ➡️ You don’t have, but you have to nourish your body healthy, with good carbs (wholemeal pasta, oats) good fats (avocados, nuts) and protein (chicken) ❗️Should I do only the weight workouts or also cardio? Sounds really weird, but honestly SO tasty! Give this salty and sweet combo a try! I have 10 grapes and 50g reduced fat feta cheese ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🍫One of my fav things to do is to dip chocolate into nut butter! If you want an extra antioxidant boost, give dark chocolate a try.
