You can eat your favorite treats in a healthy lifestyle, and still lose weight. 🌸
Most people know that I happily enjoy sweet treats daily in moderation. Macro counting is all over on instagram, and many people seem to think that it is an excuse to binge on all your favorite junk foods. However, it is not. It is eating nutrient dense foods( micros) most of the time, while allowing yourself some of your favorite treats in moderation.
When embarking on a healthy journey, many people enjoy food labeling foods as either being “good” or “bad”. Some people may even go on to restrict certain foods from a diet, and count them as ‘forbidden’. Ever craved chocolate so badly, but your ‘not allowed’ it on your new diet, and find yourself bingeing? Or perhaps you have the mentality that once you have had a bite of a ‘forbidden’ food like chocolate, and write off the whole day as you have already eaten something deemed as being ‘unhealthy’. The picture above goes to show that you can fit in some of your favorite treats, and still lose weight( if that is your goal). In the picture above, the total caloric intake are more or less the same, as well as the macros for each of the days. The day on the left, only involves food being deemed as “clean”, while the day on the right involves 2 small “treats”. Please bear in mind that overall well-being and health should be at the center of your focus here- which is why I really do think that including treats here and there can really provide a real mental break for those craving certain foods. At the same time, micro nutrient dense foods should be at the center of your diet, for your overall health and well-being. Both are important for a healthy lifestyle, the one for the physical health benefits and the other for the mental break and pure enjoyment. It’s time that we stop food labeling certain foods as good or bad, but rather those that are nutrient dense and less nutrient dense.
Moral of the story? Eat nutrient dense foods most of the time, while enjoying your favorite treats in moderation because well... you enjoy it! Don’t ever let guilt make you feel like you can’t enjoy certain foods 🌟
