“One day, you will be old enough to start reading fairytales again.”
- C. S. Lewis
Truth be told, I didn’t get too hard into the genre until about four years ago. I was on mandated and strict bedrest with my third child, and stuck in bed for 6 long months.
My husband faithfully brought me books home. He never failed me.
Books and Netflix were my very best friends, and my love for YAFantasy was born when he dropped City of Bones in my lap.
Since then, I’ve traveled the roads to Terrasen and Courts of Night and Nightmares.
I’ve stayed up late listening to stories told by a beguiling woman named Shahrzhad, as she attempted to keep her life intact and best her enemy ... and try not to fall in love.
I’ve spirited through portals with Ella and her unlikely knight, Nicholas.
And I’ve been left sobbing uncontrollably as Julian held Livvy, her very lifeblood coating his hands.
(I’m still not over that last one, by the way.)
Fantasy books, and YA in general, hold a special place in my heart and on my bookshelf. They aren’t just for kids, or for teens ... they are places of magic and comings-of-age and masterpieces made of heartbreak and terror. And the copious amounts of magic don’t hurt.
The photo to the right is my literal bookshelf - see the similarities? 😉
A Novel Companion can be found at @ and while you’re there, don’t forget to pre-order your Always Fully Booked 2019 planner. Megan has a handy video on her website showing you the ins and outs ... but don’t hesitate. Once the pre-order is over, there is no guarantee you can snag a planner.
Both the Planner and Companion have handy pages like this Series Tracker, and while you can’t use my special code in the shop for them, you CAN use them on stickers, bookmarks, and coffee mugs. Just use BELLE10 in your checkout.
I’m sinking back in to Kingdom of Ash.
Happy Tuesday, friends.
