INSPIRED FROM- THE MUSHROOM FUNGUS
SELF DEVELOPED FABRIC
The collection, “BEAUTY FROM THE DECAY” finds its inspiration in the decomposed, the raw and rotten. How decay organic material has the ability to look beautiful even after being decomposed. In the world where things are toxic and dying, why not find inspiration from the rotten and create a design collection.
Having a head in research and development, the collection is inspired from Mycology, “THE STUDY OF FUNGI”. The look of the collection is inspired by the organic shapes of fungi- the morel mushroom, the fungus, the reef, fungus Laetiporus Sulphureus, Campanella, rare species of fungi, the inside gills of the mushroom, the mushroom itself.
The strong connection with the nature and organic food strengthen the research. I never knew that this research would never allow me to switch off the morning alarm walks and look for beauty in the mushrooms and decay.
The collection is not only known for the use of fungi to create intricate pieces but also for the concept of deconstruction. The collection incorporates usual fabrics, such as cotton modal, poly viscose and glass nylon. Other trims and material was manipulated such as a d-decay piece created by transforming a simple fabric into layers and layers of ruffles and created intricate deconstructed embroidery patterns.
Every garment has its inspiration from fungi and is as beautiful as it is unusual. The collection features muted shades of brown and purple. The dye was created using tea bags, coffee beans and beetroot juice to give natural colors of the fungi. Cortinaire voiltet of A.Paeoniiflius fungi and dark brown shades of mushroom was created.
The organic feel of the garment, the concept of deconstruction, and the use of fungi was well kept in mind while designing the collection.
