How many times should you train per week? __ This will vary depending on your goals, but I would say 3-4x is a good goal. It can be anywhere from 30-90 minutes (I usually aim for 45-60 for me and my clients) and you can do it outdoors, at home, or in the gym. __ My current training split: M: Chest and Triceps T: Legs W: Rest TH: Back and Shoulders F: Abs�SAT: Rest�SUN: Rest I walk my dog 3x per day for 15-30 minutes every single day. This is the ONLY cardio I do. HIIT is too hard on my back, and tbh I have never enjoyed running. __ The best workout is the one that you enjoy. I recommend trying different styles to see which is the most fun for you. Is it circuits (like BBG), or traditional weight lifting (deadlifts, squats, etc) or make you really do enjoy cardio. Whatever it is, it is important for your physical and mental health to get in some form of movement (ideally) every single day, or otherwise every other day! I’m actually doing jumping jacks as I write this! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️R u n n i n g Today is the first day I’ve actually felt like a runner, a fully fledged runner, I was abit worried about the 2nd run of week 5 because it’s different and the idea of 2 lots of 8 mins wasn’t something I thought I could do, but I did it and I pushed myself to run faster and when I finished I felt I could carry on, very impressed with myself and feeling big love for @jowhiley for narrating #couchto5k with such inspiration! If anyone is thinking of starting to run I couldn’t recommend it enough💚💚

I followed Mr.Shed to the Netherlands last week for a work conference. He came down with conference/convention cold/plague on the last day. 6 days later here I am. Real healthy foods vs. fake healthy foods __ You decide that you are ready. You want to lose weight and you know that it’s a matter of “eat less move more.” You don’t know where to begin so you go to the grocery store and buy foods that look healthy. Lean cuisine, protein bars, slimfast shakes, and all the vitamins and protein powder. You stock up on all of the weight loss “necessities.” …or so you thought. __ You eat nothing but food advertised for weight loss for a month, and you don’t lose a single pound. WTF? Why haven’t you seen any results?! 🤷🏻‍♀️ __ Sound familiar? Does it feel like I am in your head? Well, that’s because I’ve made the exact same mistake. 🙍🏻‍♀️ The issue with “diet” foods is that they are not REAL food. They are so heavily processed and filled with artificial flavors and sweeteners that your body doesn’t even know what to do with them. __ There is no secret to losing weight. It’s about eating fewer calories than your body is burning, but not so few that your metabolism is stunted. My recommendation for anyone looking to start their journey is to make an effort to incorporate 1 new completely unprocessed food per day. So maybe one week that means having home cooked zucchini with lunch every day, or making eggs for breakfast instead of cereal. What do you do when you feel defeated? When you feel like you can’t go do it? When you’re tired? - What goes through your mind? As our first week of this round came to a wrap yesterday, we saw our girls get tired. We saw them want to quit. We saw them want to give up and stop. We saw them question if they could do this workout, this track of work, this camp. But they ALL fought for it. Every single one of them. We watched brand spanking new members crush their first week, and it was nothing short of inspiring. Every person that walks through these doors has a different background, a different reason why they’re here, different experiences and experience levels, but as owners and instructors, we find a way to tap through to all of them, so we can remind them that THEY CAN DO THIS. That they will overcome these 45 minutes, and feel SO accomplished, confident, grateful, and strong when they are done. We remind them that they are better and tougher then any excuse they can drum up in their mind. We help them critique the move to fit them exactly where they are so they don’t leave feeling like they missed out. We’ve been where they are. We know it’s not easy. We know they get sore. We know they get gassed. But we know the rewards. We know the self love and confidence. We know strength. And *THAT* is what these members, and you, will find when you stick it out through the rough moments. ✨✨ Happy weekend friends, we are here when you’re ready.

Honestly I don’t know how I’m still managing... . Having sciatica issues (going to first physical therapy appointment next Tuesday), and unexpectedly needing a new laptop and getting behind on school work because of it is really throwing me off! But I didn’t want to lose my momentum, and have still been getting in the gym just going light on leg and back days. . I’m tired as shit... I was wondering why I’ve been so tired again lately and I was reminded about my caffeine intake (which isn’t a lot) but it made me think of being off of my Adrenal Restore from @1stphorm literally. Look at the bags under my eyes.... . I AM ALWAYS TIRED . At least I thought. . Reflecting back I realized how much better I felt those 2 weeks—which I didn’t realize how much better I felt until now when I feel like complete shit again. . The two weeks I was using that product, that was when I was most productive and felt most of my energy. I was waking up at 6:30/7 ready to tackle everything and anything. . So what is it’s purpose? . Your adrenals are where a lot of your hormones are regulated and produced. If our hormones are out of wack, our bodies obviously don’t respond well. A few things that effect the hormone levels in our adrenals to become unbalanced is overtraining, stress, and anxiety to name a few—which is me to a T. . When it gets too much, and our adrenals don’t function to its best capacity, our bodies go through adrenal fatigue. Adrenal fatigue can make you feel: Overwhelmed Tired for no reason Crave salty and sweet foods Struggle to get out of bed when you actually slept decent Depend of caffeine to keep you going throughout the day . THIS IS ME 24/7 the past 2 weeks and NOW I KNOW WHY! I haven’t been using this product—which is made with a blend of vitamins and herbs. . Hey guys! Today we are hitting Triceps with “Rope Tricep Extensions” - * Stand straight with a slight bend in your torso. - * Pull the rope down to where your arm is at a 90 degree angle, this is your starting position. - * Pull the rope down flexing your tricep at the bottom of the movement hold for a brief second. - * Make sure you pull only using your arm and not shoulders - * Bring the rope back up to the starting position - * Repeat for the rep range. - I go for 5 Sets of 15-20 Reps. I sometimes switch to this instead of doing the “Straight Bar Extension” because with the rope you can get more range of motion on the flex because you can bring your hands outwards. Core tips: Your core is responsible for rotating your trunk and flexing your spine. If we're keeping it simple, you really need just three motions to hit them all. 👌 A "bottom up" motion for lower abs (think leg raises). A "side to side" or rotational motion for obliques (Russian twists or cable chops) A "top down" motion for upper abs (crunch and crunch variations) - - Getting a good stretch before you contract a muscle is a very effective way to train it, and abs are no different. Rather than staying hunched over for each rep, here I'm using a bosu ball to allow my abs to stretch before I go into the crunch. Additionally, I'm breathing out and sucking my gut in as I do the crunch. Brief pause at the top for extra contraction, then repeat. - - I just did 15 reps, but by making them high quality reps, I really felt that burn! Do 3-5 sets. - - I hope this helps you guys if you've been struggling with a good way to train core. Try this and let me know how it goes! - Make it a great Friday! When you’re a high school athlete, you take a lot for granted. . You can eat 5 quarter pounders plus 2 large fries and a chocolate shake and still not feel full. . You don’t have to workout extra, just go to practice and games. . You don’t have to worry about anything besides a banana to prevent the cramps, and water lol . No one tells you what comes afterwards. Maybe they do and we say “yeah right!” . Well... if you’re like me, that “after” took a little while (like 4-5 years). But once it came around, it hit you like a ton of bricks. . I went to an EASY to maintain 130, to 180 (and increasing quickly) in a blink of an eye. . Guess what? . It took about 4 years to get back down (still not to 130, but I’m at 140). . It took me just as long to lose the weight as it took me to gain it. Though my weight gain was slow at first, it quickly increased to its highest in about a years time. Part of why it took me so long to lose the weight was because I didn’t know how to lose it in a healthy way . I so badly wanted my old body back that I tried all the quick fixes, but now I look back and wish I wasn’t so thin. I don’t wish to ever look like that. Though it was healthy—I ate a shit ton of food, both fast food and healthy. I had a good relationship with food, myself, and the scale back then. But I also was in soccer and WAS ALWAYS RUNNING. . By the way, I hate running 😅 . But I figured out what weights were and I’m so happy I did! It has helped my weight loss journey better than anything ever has! Besides fixing my nutrition of course. . I love the body I have created with HARD WORK! There is no easy way to achieve what I have, I had to work my ass off for it. . My girl @ashclark.fitness made a post talking about how people wish they could do what their fitspos could. Well you can. YOU JUST NEED TO START! ♥️ I started and failed so many times since I hit 180, but I KEPT STARTING and eventually found what worked. Don’t EVER give up! I promise you there is something out there that will work FOR YOU, you just have to keep trying and figuring it out.

Start with the basics when beginning your journey into fitness and improving your health. The American Heart Association recommends: ▶️150 minutes of moderate exercise a week. That's 30 minutes a day for 5 days. ▶️Or at least 75 minutes per week of vigorous exercise. It's just a general recommendation. Make sure you elevate your heart rate and possibly break out into a light sweat. You can use the talk test. If you're doing moderate-intensity activity you can talk, but not sing, during the activity. If you're doing vigorous-intensity activity, you won't be able to say more than a few words without pausing for a breath.

#Throwback to my amazing trip to Nashville! Let me tell you—this trip was totally during my prep and no one even noticed. Although I didn’t get to indulge in the bbq—however, I did have an amazing Sunday brunch! ✨ Wanna know how I did it? Wanna know how I stayed on course and still managed to drop weight? I’ll tell you a few tips below: ✨ 1️⃣ I tracked my food the entire time—using @my.macros . All tracking apps make it extremely easy now days—even if you decide to eat on the go. You can find tons of restaurants and fast foods places in food tracking apps! This. Was how I manage to enjoy brunch with my husband and not watch him eat😂 . 2️⃣ I also planned ahead and ordered @iconmeals to arrive at the hotel hours before I even got there. (This was huge for me). Didn’t have to worry about cooking—or eating too much on the go (mostly because of prep). It wasn’t expensive either—just required preparation and the Internet. 😉 . 3️⃣ Lastly, I made sure @lustgodray and I walked a lot to get all my steps ins. Whenever we stopped for food or gas I made sure I walked around versus just sitting in the car. I hear all the time from mom’s that they’re too busy for fitness, healthy meals, or “me time”. Those same moms are the ones telling me that they feel terrible, hate the way their clothes fit, or don’t like what they see in the mirror. 🤷🏼‍♀️ 💖 I love this quote because I feel like we are all trying to hard to fit the perfect Pinterest mom description, but we are letting our physical and mental health suffer for expectations that are not realistic or even necessary. 💕The truth is, our kids don’t care if we have the latest farmhouse kitchen decor, the toys are all organized by theme and color, or we have all the latest autism therapy techniques mastered. What they truly care about most is that we are happy and healthy. 👩‍👧‍👦 Think about it this way… If your child was miserable every day because they hated the way they looked, felt terrible, or couldn’t keep up with their friends on the playground, would you really care if their clothes matched or their room was clean? No. What you care about most is that they’re happy and healthy, and the clean room or chores could wait. 🏃🏼‍♀️Now imagine how their sweet, innocent little hearts feel about you, their mama, who they love more than anything. I'm anxious person. I try to play it cool, but there's always about ten doomsday scenarios rolling around in my head at any given moment. So, when I first started working out, it was no surprise that I had a lot of gym-related anxiety. What if people stare at me? What if I fall off of a machine? Are those people over there talking about me? As a result, I made excuses to avoid the gym for a long time... which is a real shame, because I ended up *loving* lifting weights. A lot of the clients I work with have dealt with similar gym anxiety. In fact, most people share with me that they're incredibly nervous within the first 15 minutes of our consultation. I live for workout tanks with cheesy sayings on them 😂 “Don’t wish for it...Work for it!” Imagine if I continued to say “no” to my bf to start working out with him (that’s where it all started)....I would be 30+ lbs heavier and headed down a very unhealthy way of living. I took all of my excuses and made them reasons why I HAD to work for it. . Here are some of my silly excuses I had 3 years ago: 1. My ankle hurts—girl, your ankle will hurt either way. Actually it doesn’t hurt as much now that I stretch and strengthen it daily 2. I don’t have workout equipment—there are tons of workouts you can do without weights or fancy equipment, in fact, I’ve completed many now! 3. I don’t have workout shoes—yes, this was an excuse of mine. DUDE, just buy some. It’s not that hard 4. I’m too out of shape and weak—it will be hard at first, but it gets better...YOU get better. How will you progres if you don’t try?? . See how easy it is to crush the excuses and make yourself proud?! Go out there, take it one day at a time and make yourself PROUD. I know you can do it 😘💞

ABZZZZZ ⠀ Having a strong core is cool. It protects your back from injury, enables you to lift heavier, move better, & have greater balance. But most “ab exercises” kinda suck. Sit ups are boring and basically useless, and while planks have their place, they’re also boring as hell. ⠀ Any kind of hanging core exercise also increases your grip strength, which you’ll need if you ever want to be able to do a pullup, or crush someone’s skull with your bare hands.🤷‍♀️ ⠀ Here are a couple of my favorites, progressing from easiest to hardest. I spent 2 years RESENTING my weight loss. __ My journey started July 2015, and just 6 weeks in I developed horrible chronic back pain. I was so defeated. After years of mistreating my body, I was finally on the right path and then I was kicked back down by this horrible pain. I sought out doctor after doctor and over the course of 2 years not a single one was able to help me. __ I continued to lose weight in spite of my inactivity, but the physical pain I endured prevented me from being truly happy. Get ready for hump day tomorrow! 🍑 . Though I’ve always had a rounder toosh, toning it up and building my hamstrings have been a struggle! (P.s. this pump was so lit that I felt like I was going to bust outta these leggings at the end 😂) . The booty is one of the main focus points now a days for women, but how do you grow them? . Here’s some tips: 🍑 EAT 🍑 Utilize rep ranges between 8-12 🍑 Increase your weights, you’d be surprised what you can actually lift with your leggies! 🍑 Incorporate single leg exercises to focus on imbalances between your dominant and non dominant side 🍑 WORK YOUR ENTIRE LEG! You can do more than just squat! Bridges, lunges, sumo/regular/split squats, hyperextensions, kickbacks, abductors, adductors, hamstring curls, leg extensions, deadlifts, RDL, EVERYTHING 😂 🍑 Work legs at least 2 times a week. Both incorporating just glute work, and then alternate hamstring and quad focused 🍑 SQUEEZE DA BOOTY! During every concentric phase of a squat, squeeze your glutes. Honestly just squeeze them all the time 😅 🍑 Get a full range of motion! When you squat, be sure you are going 90° if not lower! Ass to grass people! 🍑 On the eccentric phase, go slower. Our first day with her she told us she hadn’t done exercise in years and that she was starting to change her nutrition. Her second and third days with us she told us how sore she was and how bad it hurt to go up and down the stairs. Her fifth and sixth day she got familiar and showed us how BAD ASS she was. And on week 4 as we celebrated her completing her first round, she told us she was feeling stronger, healthier, and was down 15 lbs. 🙌🏼🙌🏼 The transformation we see on those willing to work and fight for themselves is AMAZING. Christine is a perfect example of that. She showed up, she fought for herself, she gave everything she had, and she came out freaking winning! I remember when I first started my fitness journey...⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Per normal human tendencies, I tried to change ALLLL my bad behaviors at once (dieting all week/day & binging at time or weekends, nighttime snacking, weeks of little to no exercise, and drinking every weekend, plus about 10 more bad habits!)⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The reality is, every single time I started with the mindset of trying to change EVERYTHING rather than a handful of things or even just ONE of my bad habits... I failed. Miserably.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Now, I understand it can be hard to start off and choose small goals over large ones cuz how the heck is only exercising twice gonna get me that six pack, Madalynne?⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Hear me out. Do you want this to be sustainable or do you want to wind up in the same place you’re at right now?⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Frustrated. Confused. Feeling like you’ve tried everything, but you’re just destined to be overweight (PSA: you’re not!)⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Implement these 4 tips (and these 4 only!) for at least 1 week and I can guarantee you’ll start to see some mental and physical progress⁣⁣ 1️⃣ Drink 64oz water each day⁣⁣ 2️⃣ Eat at least 80–100g of protein per day⁣⁣ 3️⃣ Write down your meals & drinks for a week 4️⃣ Commit to exercising for 30 minutes twice this week⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Who’s up for the challenge? This kid makes my heart sparkle. 💖💖💖 He’s been in Kindergarten for about 4 weeks and can’t get enough snuggles when he gets home. Ya know what else he can’t get enough of? Frisbee Soccer Trampoline Fishing Swimming Marshmallows (ok, so that’s not relevant here...but it’s true) Before you start your nutrition or fitness journey, it is so important to decide WHY you want to be healthier. What drives you? What are your long-term goals? What are your priorities? I encourage you NOT to choose a number on the scale or a specific clothing size. I am 10 pounds heavier than last summer because I’ve put on some more muscle. I can also range anywhere from a size 8 to a 12 in jeans, depending on the brand. Numbers can be deceiving. What is most important to me is being the best mom I can be for this little guy and his sisters. ⚽️When he asks me to go outside and play soccer with him, or jump on the trampoline, I want to say yes. (Granted, I’ll pee my pants, but that’s ok! 🤣) 💦When we go to the pool this summer, I don’t want to worry about how I look in a swimsuit. 👩‍👦When he’s too tired to walk upstairs and he asks me to carry him, I want to be able to cradle that giant five-year-old like he is still my baby. Yes, I have days when I’d rather look better in my clothes, but that’s not what motivates me to be consistent and show up every day. He does. What’s your WHY?
