“You’re so brave.” 💙
It was 1989. I was in middle school (6th grade), and a friend just said the above sentence to me. I was like, what is she talking about? How am I brave? Then she said, 💙
“You walk down the halls without your jeans tight rolled.”
Anyone who grew up in the 80’s knows how important perfect tight rolled jeans were! Oh, the tight rolls! We would stress, do them over and over until it was just right. Walking down the halls at school without tight roll was pretty much unheard of, except when I got into 6th grade. 💙
I was done with the tight roll. I was at a new school with people I did not know. And I literally did not care. I always loved flare and bell bottom jeans. Not that you could find many flare or bell bottomed jeans back then, but whatever, my jeans were left to fly free in the wind until I could find my bellbottoms. I no longer was confined by society’s tight rolls.
And it felt good. And apparently people noticed. It gave me a brave air, and I never looked back. 💙
What would you wear if you were not afraid? How would you wear your hair if you knew you would not be judged? What is stopping you from doing it now?
Fashion and beauty may originally sound superficial to some people, but it is not. It is a spiritual experience to no longer confine yourself to society’s tight rolls. This is not about going with the trends. It’s about getting creative and wearing what you love.
Not to mention it makes life more fun!
(This is a yellow submarine dress I found on etsy that I wore to @ringostarrmusic concert last night. I had a blast. It made the concert more fun. And I literally did not care!)
Now talk to me!
What would you do/wear/say if you were brave and just did not care? 👇🏽
