Here’s another photo from our recent visit to the Jama-Coaque Reserve with our friends @ @ . This is a juvenile Fer-de-lance or Equis (bothrops asper) from the Reserve that we came across during one of our many night nights. Like many vipers this species is a sit and wait predator, so you frequently find individuals sitting in a position similar to this waiting for prey to pass by. This particular individual also had an incredible color pattern that included yellows and pinks, which will likely disappear as it continues to grow.
